Hull winger turns down the chance to play for his country at the European Championships Tom Ince, the son for former England captain Paul, has refused to play for the Under-21 as he wants to concentrate on his club career. The snub has not gone down well with Gareth Southgate, the under-21 manager, who has warned it could spell the end of his international career. Ince is currently on loan at Derby County in the Championship after a summer move to Hull City failed to see him secure a regular first team spot. Southgate was so surprised at the player's decision last week that he rang to check he knew what he was doing. He also asked his former England teammate Paul whether he had thought things through properly. "I've have had discussions with Tom and his dad over the last week or so and he has decided he does not want to considered for the Under-21s. "I have to say I was surprised. He has obviously been a regular for us all the way through the campaign. "But he feels at this moment in time he has got some priorities at club level. There is some uncertainty about where he is going to be at club level next season." What an absolute belltop
Big time Charlie....!! He's found his 'level' again... Championship. NEVER should be considered again IMO
Would have been better to say he was unavailable for the same reason rather than refuse to play i would have thought, sounds better and is less lightly to cause an upset ,unless of course that was the reason/aim in the first place .
He hasn't got an international future anyway, he doesn't play for Liverpool or Everton. I don't blame the kid, Southgate is a ****ing idiot and Hodgson is a top of the range plonker. I wish Rooney would do the same and leave Hodgson to **** his pet 'Studge' off in peace.
I can rarely be bothered with England these days but what an absolute prat, but I'm still idealistic enough to think that as a young footballer, playing for his country should be a dream. What's so great about his club career anyway that some England matches are going to get inthe way. Hope his Dad rips him to pieces.
He couldn't have been captain. Sol Campbell says you can't be captain if you're black Tom Ince is a prick blatantly
Yeh, I'm sure he wouldn't have taken this decision without speaking to his old man. There's usually more to the story behind the headline.....
If you ask me I think the lad has ideas above his station - thinks he's better than he is. I'm just pleased we didn't sign the ****.
Wow what an arrogant ****ing idiot ! Well, I'm sure his father will have also had some input into this decision. And to think that only a couple of seasons ago, he was advised, by his father, NOT to pay any attention to both Liverpool's and Inter Milan's (I think) interest in him, but instead carry on playing in the Championship to learn his craft !!! Too late now bonny lad ! You've killed the golden goose and all that....
