Yesterday, the 'Budget' thread ran for a while, until it was killed (by OLM?).

I posted a thread which got removed, straight away (by OLM?)

I felt my thread was important - an important subject - and should have been given a chance. And then stopped if it got out of hand?

    Here's the link: http://www.theguardian.com/commenti...est-history-staffordshire-cancer?CMP=ema_1364

We all get ill at some time. And we will all need the NHS at some time.

I agree but cant see it lasting long Stan. Nhs has its faults but anyone who watches 24 hours in A&E sees what a great job they do.

Was in for X-rays yesterday. Sir Benches was also in for tests. It's fundamental to modern life.

(And I'm turned on by nurses.......)

Political threads, or anything else for that matter, are only allowed to run when OLM says so. If he wants to get a rant in about the club, then its fairly safe it'll stay open. He has recently ignored politics in a couple of threads because it suits him and his agenda.

He should just stop gobbing off on here and become a Councillor, then he can bore the ****e out of people in real life too.

It isn't and you know it.

You were clearly called on it, and you, as normal, were dismissive of anyone telling you what to do.

My concern is that if & when parts of the NHS are privatised standards will drop to the unacceptable levels that are regularly witnessed in private nursing & care homes.

Privatisation will ensure the care, dignity, well being & welfare of patients becomes a secondary objective behind creating profits & wealthy shareholders of a similar ilk to those who managed to turn "Granny Farming" into a wicked, uncaring, perverse yet exceptionally lucrative industry.

My local hospital, and one I am very familiar with, was run by Circle. Privatised but still in the NHS.

Despite the utter bollocks you'll read about the place in the press, and definitely despite the complete and utter bollocks produced by the CQC plus politicians, it went from being almost shut down entirely, leaking money like a sieve, to being well run, profitable and being a much better place to work, and just as importantly, being a better place to be ill in.

I know it could easily have gone the other way, but for our hospital, it was genuinely a massive positive.

What did it in was old school trade unionists who abhor change and being challenged on how they get to run things and the awful inbuilt structure around the NHS, including management and politicians who had a vested interest in it failing.

It's such a shame, now I expect it will suffer, we will suffer but the Trade Unions and old NHS diehards will think they've won a victory for the people. So sad really.

    CQC is an independent regulator.

"The CQC found a catalogue of serious failings, including poor standards of care, inadequate hand washing, major problems in the Accident and Emergency department, children’s lives put in danger, undignified and abusive treatment of patients and delays in relieving their pain. These were all associated with poor staffing levels and cost-cutting measures.

Some 50 frontline nurses’ jobs had been slashed, along with many other jobs. One nurse, it was reported, had to look after 21 patients. Morale at Hinchingbrooke plummeted. The last staff survey placed it in the bottom quarter of hospitals on key indicators, including job satisfaction, bullying and training."

Maybe it was issues like these that the Trade Unions were trying to put a halt to. Protecting staff & patients from being exploited to fund profit.

They were a load of bollocks. Morale at the hospital has never been higher. That report was a total hatchet job, the majority of which was challenged and changed.

    Levels of staffing had increased.

Honestly, that report was utter bollocks and bore no semblance of the hospital.

Close thread. Not because it's politics. It's just boring as ****.
