Jock **** I actually think English football is going backwards...and will continue to do so when English players are overpriced n clubs by cheap foreigners.
There simply isn't enough money in the Premier league perhaps the National lottery fund could donate to the 4 Champions league clubs?. They just need a cash injection to compete with the cream of Europe , the squads that Man city & Chelsea put together for peanuts have done bloody well.
Certainly gone downhill in Europe since the Golden Age but I think it has more to do with a shift in tactics than the quality of our teams' squads.
Arsenal had 1 bad game and Giroud missed about 5 sitters in the home leg against Monaco , they were a bit unlucky Chelsea blew it in the final few minutes but were not far off going through. They hardly got outclassed .
Golden age? Possibly ****e tactics but Man City have spent 200 million , hosed the epl lasy year and got hosed in Europe two seasons in a row. Dzeko bony jovetic demichelis sagna clichy ...
Champions League - 8 seasons, 3 wins, 5 runners up - I call it a Golden Age. Our clubs still have the same spending power as they did during The Golden Age and hoover up the international talent but aren't getting the same success in Europe which leads me to believe that the tactical game has moved on (as in cricket).
