After weeks of shall I.., shan't I.., I charged up the battery, brought the tyres up to pressure, checked a few things over, wiped the seat, popped the skid lid on and let the red thing on the left take me for a quick ride round the local area, just to make sure everything was OK. Of course, everything was fine and it is now ready for the rest of the year. I got off, locked up, put the cover back over it, and found I'd pulled a muscle in my back. Oh dear. Motorbikes are so involving.

Yeah, but it's only making a bit of difference. I was basically stupid. I still consider myself a bit of a youngster and I have to accept that that is not the case. The osteopath, I went to late last year, said I have a skiing injury going back to the early 1980s that has screwed my back up in several ways, and that doesn't help me getting pulled back muscles or trick shoulders. It even affects my diet. No doubt I shall be back on the VFR within a day or two. It's too much fun not to.
Indeed. I think I've read somewhere that train drivers often encounter situations in which they can do very little or nothing, whether it is stuck vehicles on a crossing, people being thrown in the way of their train, teenagers playing chicken, or the suicide situation. Certainly the downside of the job.
