It's so predictable. I can't be ****ed with it. We lost because we were naive in the first leg. A87 just wants a spat with somebody because he always does when we lose. Nobody is disagreeing that we weren't good enough over the two legs, but we came very close tonight and I think the team deserve some credit for the fightback.

Nope, after we lost to Spurs I was the only one who thought we didn't deserve to, and after we lost in the first leg to Monaco I was the only one not blowing a gasket, heck I even made a damn positive thread after we lost.

    Good for you <ok>

btw I was talking to Brunel about wallowing in the 'glorious failure' rubbish, so there was no need for you to jump on it.

If we qualify for the champions league next season we should play our reserve team in order to rest players for the league and thus increasing our chances of domestic silverware whilst still cashing in on that vital TV money. Flawless plan.

I think the away goal rule should be scrapped, extra time and pens would be better.

Unlucky Gooners, you gave it a good shot <ok>

The team got knocked out by Monaco, a very average team and no doubt the worst left in the competition. Arsenal deserve no credit for anything that occurred over the two legs. If the two legs had happened in reverse would you be giving them any credit?

Sorry but I don't agree with Wenger saying that we deserved to go through. We simply got caught with our pants down in the first leg and left too much to do in the second. Yes we played some really good football and got close, but our naivety was our downfall ultimately. As a team they have to learn the hard way and avoid this in the future.

But there were plenty of positives to take away from yesterday. We showed courage and played well to almost get a result. This will also help us grow in confidence and take our performances forward in the league and FA cup.

    Don't
They seem to be arguing...about agreeing with each other. This is a head f*ck, even by Arsenal standards of whinging, and we know whinging!

Not to do with bottle, more to do with us having the wrong approach in the first leg and making elementary mistakes, especially conceding the third goal right at the end.

I'm not even arguing with him. He jumped on a comment responding to somebody else and started getting his knickers in a twist.

We weren't good enough over the two legs. That much is obvious, we can't have any complaints. Although I do feel that we showed some good battling and determination last night to try and overturn the score and very nearly did it.

Working last night so did not see the game, watched the Charlie Nicolas summary of the game and have to say I totally agree,he said how well the team played but also said that we don't turn up in the big games when the pressure is on,last night was like a free throw there was nothing to lose we had shot ourselves in the foot in the first leg.So people the problem remains this bunch can't hack in the big games and they keep proving it time and time again, its about being organised and getting the basics right and being mentally strong and this lot have proven when the chips are down they are none of those things. There is nothing to make anyone believe any time soon things will be different.

There are so many stereotypes surrounding Arsenal. Maybe some of them deserved: 1) No trophies 2) Can't beat others in the top 4, especially away 3) Can't win the big games 4) No grit 5) Not combative 6) No big signings 7) Can't keep players. . . etc etc. However, we won the FA only a year ago. Are going to the semi-final this year. Beaten both Manchester clubs. United away in the FA quarter finals certainly was a "big game." Arsenal has played with grit this season (Coq has been a revelation). Sanchez might be the best signing in the Premiership. Welbeck is proving himself. Most of the squad stayed.

This Monaco debacle is both a metaphor and example of where Arsenal is right now...transition. All the old Arsenal stereotypes were proven again during the loss at Emirates, but the new, transitioning Arsenal showed up in Monaco. We responded in Monaco and came very near to eliminating a club --no matter what anyone says about them--that had only given up one goal during the CL competition. Yes, Arsenal should have advanced, but, many of those Arsenal stereotypes and weaknesses are being addressed. There is improvement. I was very happy to see the effort in Monaco. It could've been a game where Arsenal didn't show up. They did.

Yes you had a poor first leg.. but..

You still should have got through. That Monaco team conceded the entire pitch beyond 30 yards out from their own goal.
    Couldn't string two passes together
    Defending was atrocious
    Slow play
    Poor technique

Monaco are a bang average side. The club seemed to care more about Bono watching from the stands than the match.

What got you knocked out was not the first leg, it was the failure to convert so much possession and chances into goals in Monaco, it was all in your own hands and Monaco literally did everything to enable an Arsenal victory. Walcott should have had two, Giroud 2 Sanchez 1 or 2

You literally should have walked out 5 or 6-0 winners last night.

Not that i'm having a go at Giroud as he's been good for us, but replace him with Henry or RVP, then we would have converted more of those chances. But agreed, we were a little too wasteful up front and on our more vintage days, would have gone through.

I'd say we actually pissed away more good chances at the Emirates. We had all the possession last night but I wouldn't say we created a massive amount of clear cut chances. No point pinning it on OG as every player out there has had those absolute stinkers before.

I just hope the team genuinely do embrace the positives from this game. We won 2-0 away from home in the last 16 of the Champions League. We've extended our good run and the team seems to be finding some real momentum, just in time for the run-in and FA Cup! The last thing we need is them moping about being knocked out. Be much healthier to take the pain from that and using it to drive them forwards for the remainder of the season.
