Passing accuray, you mean all that side to side and 451 (before Spurs) back passes, more than anyone else, did I mention that side to side nonsense.
The passes that mattered were the ones that are the minority and the ones that were not good enough.

Stats can be used to make up any fiction, and one such fiction is United have one of the top midfields in the league

It's not all De Gea but he is the difference between where you are now and where you could have been with a lesser keeper. If you were 7th or 8 and 10 points less, no one would be talking about your accuracy in the first place.
