We just need to improve each area of the park by 10%. Mig's shot sto
I don't agree. Hart is better than Migs, Caballero better than Jones (much better!)

They may not be where Chelsea are but they are a bit ahead of us <ok>

  2. I don't think Red was saying we had similar quality keepers, I think he was saying they have a clear first choice and clear back-up keepers the same as us.

I think Hart is a decent keeper but I wouldn't say he was top quality. He has a 'David James' aura about him IMO

He's as good at shot stopping as Migs but his distribution is much, much better. I'd swap tomorrow if it was down to me.......We're talking small margins here......we also need to improve at RWB, if we are to keep this formation......and up front...won't be difficult to improve there tbh!! <ok>

  4. I agree he's probably better than Migs but I wouldn't swap him. I don't go along with the idea that anything better that what we currently have is an ideal signing. What we currently have isn't always the standard we should be aiming to improve on, sometimes the existing standard is below the minimum requirement. I don't think Migs is below the minimum but nor do I think Hart is a significant enough step up to look at making such a change. All hypothetical of course ;)

    Frankly David James had talent

Sorry but he did and you don't play til 40 without talent and for england too

His problem was being a stoner with a gaming addiction and he's rather play video games than sleep so he had zero concentration

When he was straight he was consistent but when he was clowning he was crap

I don't think hart is that bad but I don't think he is as good as he thinks

Courtois, loris and de gea are standouts for me but neuer is top of the pile imo

Mingolet is not as good as hart but he's not that much worse

This is sensible and why I go mad when I hear anyone settling for an Allen or indeed a Skertl or even a henderson

If a player isn't improving and henderson is then he'd better be top player. We must always keep striving for better in every position every year

Then they would not be the fickle ones you numpty <laugh>

It's the ones who were all "Ming out!" and are now wearing "I Love Ming!" t-shirts that I am talking about

  8. I was referring to the concentration issues. I think Hart has similar concentration issues to what David James had earlier in his career. James didn't **** up every week, he went in patches much like Hart does. Obviously will all find it highly amusing to blame James' concentration on computer games because that's what he blamed but it could easily be something else that causes such lapses.

Not sure that Mignolet is even at Hart's level. Firstly Mignolet cannot distribute to save his life.

He's been improving a lot recently though. He's punching the ball much better (although it's still probably quite nerve racking for you guys, i always see set pieces as a decent chance) and he's shot stopping has been second to none recently. On current form he is one of the best and has won quite a few points for you guys imo but obviously we are in a patch of tremendous form and he's really picked up his confidence.

Before that though he was in a real slump, you know when you are dropped for Jones you've been bad for a long long time and although he hasn't had any costly clangers since, Mignolet has never struck me as a character who will just shrug it off and perform at a high consistent level when he has a dip. I'm just waiting for how he reacts to the next clanger he has.

I'm still amazed that you guys gave Reina away for free considering how good he was (he wasn't great in his final year but was really picking up after the new year) and also after how much he was a legend for you guys. You could see he was one of those Liverpool through and through players.

  13. It can be frustrating at times since it usually immediately gives the opposition the ball back but I'm much happier knowing he will do what he feels comfortable with rather than trying to catch something he has no right of catching. The number one priority for a keeper is to defend his goal, punching the ball away to clear the danger is absolutely fine by me.

Reina was great bar in the air. IMO, we need help with crosses etc which is why Brod went for Migs.

True, Reina was an absolute liability at crosses in the early part of his career. I think he was actually pretty good by the end of it though

De Gea was flapping at crosses in his early United days because the defence gave him no protection.

Ming's big weakness is not crosses, it's decision making. When to come out, when not to come for a cross.. when to catch or punch.
He's been more decisive and that has been the difference, he could always pull off a save.

Lol i fair enough, you probably watch them more than i do. I just remember on MOTD (back in the day with no free streaming :) ) Reina flapping at crosses. I will never forget his stupid performance against Everton (think you lost 3-1).

The fiasco against Everton springs to mind ROFL.

  20. I think most foreign keepers look dodgy with crosses at first (or at least they used too) because of the physicality of the English game. Reina wasn't too bad bar this but he did have a bad patch in the middle of his Liverpool career.
