Dortmund the second richest team in Germany? Have you seen how much they've spent in the past (net). Except for this year, they've spent hardly any money... (I haven't looked at other teams but i would be surprised as their net spend in the last 5 years not including last year is like 5m) What is your barometer of "richest teams" because if its on transfers you've actually spent more than Arsenal in the last 5 seasons
Average defender who thrives in deep defences behind 2 defensive mids. Poor on the ball bar short passes to his partner or full back. Takes little responsibility. Poor marking and concentration. Easily bullied by physical strikers. Cannot lead or organise a defence despite being the most experienced. Benefited from playing alongside quality partners like Carra, Agger and now Sakho.
Interesting, didn't realise how much money Chelsea make. Funny that we make a lot more money than Arsenal and Liverpool. Anyway, i think if you're looking at revenue then thats a misleading statistic. I think you it should be on wages spent and transfer spending. Look at Newcastle, they spend hardly any money but are up their in the rankings but no one would be saying that are underachieving (with what Ashley is doing with them)
I actually rate Skrtle as a very good defender if thats all you want. He's tenacious, he's not that slow and weak and he's dirty enough to just chop/slam into the strikers back. He's not bad in a 4-4-2. In this 3-4-3 he's been an absolute rock. This formation has suited him down to a T (so far) and he's definitely not one of the components that currently need changing (as of yet).
Jimmy has a serious man-crush on Sakho and is only envious because Skrtel gets to play alongside him. Skrtel isn't the best defender in the world, but is far better than some of our own fans give him credit for.
Don't we also spend the most money?!?! Just messing, the Deloitte reporting supposedly does not look at player transfers so this is pure revenue. Saying that it doesn't account for wages either or other overheads. Think this is just pure income (don't quote me on that).
I'm not a Skrtel fan and haven't been for a few years now but these are fair assessments IMO. He's the unpardonable defender for us at the moment.
That wasn't what I was responding to though However, that spend is justified by selling those 563 players PS...you perhaps don't know that I have a reputation for not reading back and this is no different
Don't get me wrong. He's not top 4 material in a 4-4-2. He's been a man mountain so far in this 3-4-3. He is a solid dependable defender though and he's committed. I don't know how he gets away with it but he gets away with niggly fouls, holding at corners and doesn't really get that many yellows considering how dirty he is (most CB's are).
The rugby type approach is why I have a dislike for him but he's calmed it down loads over the last eighteen months. He's a brilliant sweeper so being central in a three is perfect for him. Jimmy will tell you he can't read the game which is clearly bollocks since he's always sweeping round to mop up the danger etc, you don't do that without reading whats happening.
Newcastle have the 19th biggest revenue in the world. They are underachieving by not being in the Europa every season. But they are doing it deliberately so that fat cockney twat can get richer.
