I disagree really Westy I think he has a lot of potential which he showed earlier in the season and I'd like him to stay next season to progress and get some consistency........I don't believe like some that he is arrogant about 'having made it' but I do believe he has self belief which is what I think he will still come good.......I could be wrong
Mings has lots of potential sure. However, he has a lot to learn. His positioning is dogspoo! His tracking back is at walking pace, he can run forward alright though. Funny that! He makes it easy for people to skin him alive. I would say he's getting better but he isn't. He was GASH vs Norwich for the most part, horrific first half vs Boro and yeah seriously needs to buck his ideas up. Alright Spanish good lad. Lennon's half held the white flag out for tonight, great chance to get some confidence going into Watford.
Mings is an interesting one - Physical profile wise he is a great talent. He has all the attributes that are needed to go far in the game, which sparks the debate of 'Nature v Nurture' - do you find gangly raw athletes with less coordination and technical skill and train them... or technically gifted players who haven't got the strength and pace. The general sporting landscape is moving toward the pure athletes route, which is why we hear a lot about players having 'pace & power' as if it is the holy grail of football.. though Messi, Iniesta among others are proving that is not the be all and end all As for Mings this season, we have clearly missed Cresswell. For all Mings' attributes and impressive performances. Cressy would have 10-15 assists by this stage and Mings simply hasn't filled that element of the role that Cressy had made his own.
Cressy was a cut above the rest. Apparently could be in line for an England call (for all I raved about him that must show how poor LBs we have) Mings definitely has potential. I've seen him have 1 great attacking game and 1 great defensive game but other than that he has looked awful, as you say KOPR he looks like an athlete who they tried to get to play footy. I'd happily see him develop at Ipswich but if we've been offered more than £1 million for the guy I say we were seriously silly not to take it!! For me I've seen far more potential in Hewitt in the small number of appearances than I have Mings
apparently according to his post match press conference we switched to a back 3 last night for part of the first half. Didn't notice any difference myself! Smith had another poor game. Surely he needs a rest. The whole stadium groaned at one point when he was left as the last defender and I think the groan affected him as he totally mishit the clearance.
We didn't no neither did Bolton. Way it goes! We're going to have to play much better at Watford though.
