    Discuss!

Sunderland have sacked manager Gus Poyet after a run of just one victory in 12 Premier League games.

The Black Cats are one point above the relegation zone after Saturday's 4-0 home defeat by Aston Villa.

Poyet met chief executive Margaret Byrne as well as other board members after taking training on Monday but the club decided to part company with him.

The Uruguayan had taken over as manager from Paolo di Canio in October 2013 with the club bottom of the top flight.

    Derby win for them now.
Let's see how long it takes them to appoint a successor. Bet it's no more than a week.

This is the move which guarantees them survival so fair play to them.
Ellis gets criticised for having his finger on the trigger but the Gus Bus had well and truly crashed.
This will also guarantee the derby points.
I personally think Ellis will bring in Warnock or put Ball in place to see things through till the end of the season before making a permanent appointment the.
Longer term I think Ellis has decent ambition (unlike fatty) so I expect to see someone like RDM or Laudrup take up the reigns.

Honestly I knew we would lose the derby anyway. Is willaimson going to be able to defend Defoe? No. Carver out Ashley out.

What?! No way, are you suggesting that it's possible to identify a replacement and offer them a suitable contract within a 7-10 day period? It can't be done, I tell you. The examples of West Brom - Pulis, Palace - Pardew, Villa - Sherwood, Man U - van Gaal, and so on, etc., are all anomalies. To properly identify a manager a club has to act with dignity, so first and foremost the club must absolutely not under any circumstances even contemplate other candidates for your club. Secondly, the club must then start the process in an unbelievably laborious way. Then, upon utter failure, the club must appoint someone as cheap as possible from the coaching staff, before then announcing to the world that EVERY applicant wasn't good enough (essentially meaning anyone actually interested was crap) and proceeding to devalue the role as much as humanly possible.

RDM?! Have you watched Schalke lately?! Fcking no chance he'd jack that in. If the Bundesliga's good enough for Guardiola, I'm sure RDM feels quite happy.

Could almost work for Ashley hahaha. We seem to be the only club on earth that takes months to either appoint a manager or sign a player. With that kind of laissez-faire attitude it's baffling how Mike Ashley ever became successful [aside from his obvious ability to squeeze a pip from a dead orange.]

Sunderland fans are a total disgrace.

Looking to "get at" their Manager is nothing short of barbaric thuggery.

Those idiots need banning from all future games.

What sort of message does that send out to the watching kids at the game?

Look to physically intimidate the Sunderland Manager and he will be sacked?

A sad but sickening reflection of the brain-dead morons that attend the Stadium of ****e <ok>

Personally don't understand the thought process...
Team loses game of football >>> unevolved monkey brain identifies that the team losing is a team that the simpleton encasing said monkey brain actually quite likes >>> the neuron (plural would be woefully inaccurate) is fired, not at any particular centre of the brain, but sporadically bounces off and around the encased hollow (thereafter referred to as the head) like a squash ball, slowly losing direction and enthusiasm (like all spectators of squash) and eventually sparking a reaction in the "twatbag" region >>> simpleton lashes out at nearest club-affiliated target he could recognise after the pre-requisite 10 pints (this is no time to be a hero and go for the defensive coach, whoever he is)

Also think Poyet was guaranteed a win versus us, again, but this actually makes me slightly more optimistic. Looking around, the realistic options are pretty ****e. We will still most likely lose however,. We have one fit and unsuspended CB (but unfortunately, that's Mike Williamson, so I wasted my time and yours and might as well have just said we have no CBs), the manager insists on playing Riv, Krul plays like a fanny precisely 67% of the time, and all the midfielders have been on holiday since Pardew left.

We should have got Pulis in before Palace. For Sutton to call us a pub team is funny but sick, when I thought the 15 point team was the worst I have seen. Plymouth at home 1989 roker park, how many remember that game ? they had lost at home to Chelsea in the 2nd div (and nowhere near the present Chelsea team) 7-0 and lost about 17 consecutive matches, but we kopped it 3-0 that day, and we are still rubbish. WHU are in piss poor form so hehe.

Sounds like they are going for Advocat. Need to beat Newcastle to stay in the league again.

They can get any **** they like, even the bloke who cleans out the player's personal ****ters as even he will be able to outwit fat arse Carver in a few weeks time. If they get Hoddle I couldn't possibly hate them anymore than was physcially and mentally possible for a human being to do.

Inevitable really. A supporter approached him angrily from behind and that's when the **** really hit the fan!

I couldn't care less that they sacked him or who the replacement is.
SAFC seem to be one of those clubs that have actively tried to out do us over the years. in appointing ****ty managers.

If we play like we did yesterday then no but every game is different, we're a better team than them and that is why we are ahead of them.
