And what if he tried getting a purpose built facility done but the council ****ed him about until it was too late? Who would you hold at fault then? It's all idle speculation as other than the fact that Allam is resurfacing the Airco, no one has a clue what else has gone on in the quest for a level 2 academy.
The audit is only next month because the Allams kicked off about it being in 2016. Seemed reasonable at the time because the thinking was that everything was in place and we were ready to show it. Turns out the time frame they asked for is now being used as an excuse to kick people out of the arena, an arena which we've absolutely no right to anyway. It's almost as mad as asking for arbitration to be announced at a particular time to minimise the impact on the team, when it was entirely his choice to have the arbitration as well as the disruptive process at the same time last year.
I'd blame the Council. According to Angus Young the club asked Bishop Burton when they finally said no plan B was evicting the clubs out of the Arena. A bit more than idle speculation. The man lets nothing stand in his way unless he meets somebody bigger and stronger then him. He's got the money to build a purpose built academy anywhere in Hull or even the East Riding. If Hull City stay in the Premier League we'll get millions more in TV money and what does he do? Issues eviction notices to amateur sports clubs because he wants to save a few bob. It isn't either or. He can build afford to build a new facility but is choosing not to.
If that one remaining box couldn't have been ticked quickly then they shouldn't have been whining about the audit being in 2016. It's absolutely no one else's fault that the audit is now too early. That was entirely down to the request of the Allams. They kicked off, got their own way as usual, and it still wasn't good enough.
They most probably thought Bishop Burton would roll over and have their stomach tickled when they asked for the audit. Unfortunately Bishop Burton said no and then panic. Idle speculation on my part.
I heard Mooney this morning saying they're helping the affected sports clubs to find alternative venue hire. Take it from me, they'll struggle to find suitable alternatives. Just about every school, academy, etc is fully committed to existing bookings. If Allam get's his way and the Airco Arena is used as part of the academy upgrade then other venues will increase prices to reflect this shortage so then all community clubs will probably be affected indirectly. The Airco is the only facility in the area that has 3 basketball pitches - it's the largest in Hull. Lastly, can't imagine the owners of Airco (the company) are too chuffed at all this negative publicity and if they've paid up front as part of the sponsorship package they'll be knocking on AA's door next month for a refund, no doubt.
Don't forget the rebranding from the 'Sports Arena' to 'Airco Arena' has only happened in the last 6 months (maybe less). So, whatever the reason for the proposed change has happened within this time frame.
I saw the local news at lunchtime, they had an interview with the people who run the trampoline set-up, they say there's no other venue in the area with a ceiling high enough for them to do what they do and they'll have to shut down... please log in to view this image
Publicly - putting on a brave face. Privately - fuming. Although by the end of this sorry episode everyone will know the name Airco....

Isn't Ennerdale just as high (or not far off) (I'm not condoning what he's doing, just that Ennerdale seems a similar height at the sports hall towards the back.
