Glad he's gone. Worried about Big Sam though, certainly in terms of the rest of this season. Big Sam works best with pacey wingers to choose from, something we don't have. I never seen him play an other way where he doesn't rely on fast wingers. Has anybody seen any other way? This is very important imo as he has to use what we have and keep us up. Not sure he's the man to keep us up. tbh

Agree about Allardyce, the poster on his wall of his house, when he managed the mags was a giveaway where his loyalties laid in the N.E.

Feuds btw mean **** all when megabucks are at stake, people make up, people fall out again, that's life. I imagine Short wouldn't be short of the odd apology if it got him the result..<ok>

One thing worth considering mate, is, if Big Sam can't keep you up then chances are (Fergie aside obviously) nobody can.

He's damn sure to be your best bet of bouncing back from relegation as well, at the first attempt, he knows how to set a team up to 'get the job done'.

Doesn't answer my question through mate. Do we have a squad Big Sam can work with. Has he ever inherited a squad with no pacy wingers who he always seems to rely on?

It's not as simple as 'Oh it's Big Sam, he'll keep us up' for me. If you think about his style can we even play it? Can he even play any other style? If so I'd love an example because he worries me.

I dunno mate, you just seem to match at the minute. He's a top manager who has a track record that looks good on paper, you need a manager with experience and won't take **** from nuggets who think way above their stations.

The bloke knows how to set a team up to get physical, defend and grind results out, style of play becomes a beta objective I reckon 'til the summer.

I'm upgrading to marrows, butternut squash, cauliflowers and a few onions, you should get more vertical coverage. The acoustics are pretty unforgiving though, you're gonna need to **** into greaseproof paper or something instead of all that foil.

It's more economically friendly anyhow, you should consider it.

Not so long ago we overlooked Big Sam when he was ready to come here, lots of people did not want him here either, it would surprise me, if he took the job, which is looking more and more like mission impossible.

Yeah, seems like they've been working behind Gus' back to find somebody.

There's no chance Allardyce is the man if it's a temporary basis mind.

Temporary to me, means either somebody from within or Terry Venables.

I think it is quite a sad scenario to be honest, here we are hoping for a manager that 10 years ago would have caused riots at the SOL if he had been appointed. We laughed when the Mags appointed him and laughed more when he was sacked. It is the sad reality of Premiership football but a credit to him as a manager that he has kept the 'Fat Sam' thing going. At the moment, I'd take him in a whisper, simply because I don't want to see us relegated, there's a lot to play for and this man can grind out results.

It would be hilarious if Allardyce's first game was West Ham & the second Newcastle <laugh>
