6 points and a game in hand with 9-10 games left is a nice cushion but we really are losing steam. Yet another poor performance and poor result at home. Got to be careful not give Arsenal a sniff either. They are only 7 off and we still have to go to the Emirates. Games in hand only look good if you think you're going to win them and we're really struggling to turn draws into wins. End of the season can't come fast enough!
The worst part is in our last six games at Stamford Bridge in all competitions we have been ahead in all six but only won 1 game. Lead against City, drew 1-1 Lead against Bradford, lost 4-2 Lead against Everton, won 1-0 (barely) Lead against Burnley, drew 1-1 Lead against PSG, drew 1-1. Lead in extra time against PSG, drew 2-2 Lead against Southampton, drew 1-1. Six points there that could easily have gifted us the title alread and other results that could have kept us on for the treble. We need a bit of rotation as our favoured XI are getting fatigued.
Aye our home form has been shocking of late. Especially the Bradford and Burnley results. The less said about PSG the better
The only win in there was a last minute goal when Everton down to 10 men as well. I didn't realise it was that bad till you posted it. City game aside, we should be winning the rest (especially factoring the PSG with 10 men factor). It's only City's form of late that is leading people to hand us the title as we'd be in big **** if they had won their last couple.
Thank ****.. Now you all know what I am harping on about!! Need some daylight real soon. Need some change in Jose. Factors are not just external, Jose's rigid selection is a major internal factor.
Guess it all depends on how dynamic Jose can be. If he can adapt his style and maybe tweak it slightly, then we will be good. If Jose pulls a Wenger and is a stubborn old goat then he may end up in danger (difference being though, Jose actually wins **** all the time). Will be interesting to see what kind of signings Jose can pull off in the summer. That may give us an indication of what to expect next season.
I think we need 3 in without any leaving from our main 17 players. (Courtois, Cech, Ivanovic, Terry, Cahill, Zouma, Azpi, Luis, Ramires, Matic, Fabregas, Hazard, Willian, Cuadrado, Oscar, Remy, Costa) If Cech goes we need another young prospect to be the number 2 in my opinion. If Mikel or Drogba go then another player in their squad place (not necessarily their position) is needed. CB - Varane looks a cert. CM - We need another playmaker, but a dynamic one, with a bit of pace and power. Pogba would be the man but he's a bit costly. ST - Remy isn't getting a look in and Drogba doesn't have as much of an impact as he should be. We need an Aguero-like striker to complement the power and strength of Costa. I've been really impressed with what I've seen of Vietto of Villareal this season, and he has a £14M buyout clause. Only 21 and I think we need to invest in a younger striker as I don't expect Bamford to be brought back just yet.
Agree with all of that. I think Oscar will go. Also I highly doubt that Bamford will ever play a first team match in Chelsea colours. "But he is scoring" I hear you shout.....yup, so was Lukaku. Bamford will be sold in the summer to Stoke or Hull for £6m. FFP..............
Agree with Bamford. He need to be in the Premier League next year at the very least but going to be very difficult for him to break in. What about Sneiderlin instead of Pogba as a cheaper option and knows the league well?
I wouldn't mind either Morgan or Victor. Just look at the number of players better than Mikel in DM - not listing Poga, Toure & Matic. James McCarthy Fernandinho Schniederlin Wanyama NZonzi Song Kouyate Delph Jonjo Tiote Carrick Blind Hendo Lucas Aus captain Fellaini Flamini Arteta Dembele Mikel may be as good as following, which is no good. Barry Fernando Allen
James McCarthy (decent shout, Fernandinho (cost 30M, flattered to deceive) Schniederlin (ideal from any other premier league side, young, can play and is homegrown) Wanyama (not as good a passer as Schniederlin Delph (Just signed a new contract. Can he make the step up?) Jonjo (erratic player, too hot and cold) Tiote (reckless, don't think he can make that step up) Carrick (age, rival) Blind (rival, LVG's fave) Hendo (Behind Schneiderlin as my second choice from this list, stalling Lucas (not better than Mikel in my opinion) Aus captain/Jedinak (age) Fellaini (rival, doesn't really play DM) Flamini (age, rival) Arteta (age, rival) Dembele (rival, in peak years but can't start for Spurs, we need players that can start if needed without dropping the quality of our team) For me, lookign at fellow Prem players for the central midfield. It would be Schneiderlin, Emre Can and Henderson, in that order. The last two are impossible to get in my opinion and we would not be alone in wanting Morgan's service. Not sure Khedira will be an option, despite his free status in the summer. Moutinho would offer a similar style to Fabregas and he impressed me for Porto and against Arsenal the other week.
I agree with you about the possible buys. Just wanted to compare Mikel to our competition. How most of the good teams have more than 2 decent players in the DM position, whereas we have only one. That is the biggest flaw. If any team wants to play expansive footy, DM position is the most crucial one. We can /should go for any of these Poga (break the bank), McCarthy, Hendo, Kheidra, Schneiderlin, Tiote, Wanyama (both zillion times better than Mikel),
Kehidira or Sneiderlin for me. Pogba is too expensive. Verrati is quality as well but only gettable if PSG need to sell for FFP reasons.
I think we should go for Khedira, not only is he free but Jose has worked with him before. I really like Alderweireld who's on loan at saints from Atletico can play full back and centre back and probably won't even cost 10M. He's had a good season, or if we wanted a RB only i'd go for Clyne. Varane seems expensive at 30M. Up front i'd keep Remy but add another, who i have no idea. And a controversial one which most wont agree but i'd honestly go for Milner. Another free in the summer, knows about the league and a title race, homegrown and can play in so many positions
I would totally go for both Khedira and Milner too on a free. Would be two very astute signings, especially if they both cost nothing. Get rid of Rambo, Mikel and Oscar. Have a feeling Bamford will be flogged in the summer too for a profit #ffp Khedira, Milner and a new striker to replace Drogba who will most likely leave. maybe a new CB too. Think Zouma could be Matic's understudy.
Milner's not a bad shout actually. Could totally see Jose going for that. English, a free and massive work rate.
