"I feel bit sorry for Spurs fans because they always give them hope 'can we get into that top four' but they never do it." (Robbie Savage, on BBC Football Live) You know you are playing ****e when you get wummed by Robbie Savage! The worry is, that this can get even more humiliating for us.
Can't pick a single player who's had a good half so looking on the bright side, if our midfield can actually start playing, we might walk away from this with some pride still intact. I can't see it happening though...
But he is right HIAG. Some teams know they will challenge. Others know they are in a relegation fight. Some know they will end up comfortable in the middle of the league. We talk beyond our realities..and us fans cling to that hope...and we even sacrifice true challenges for a cup in that cloudy aspiration of ours.
This is worse than any performance since the batterings we took v liverpool and chelsea last season. appalling performance by the whole team Thank god i am taking mrs remembercolinlee out with the kids for mothers day in a minute.
Well that was utter, utter garbage, wasn't it? The players looked like they'd been doped up. Need to be far better than that in the second half just to avoid a total hammering.
That was the worst 45 mins I have seen from a team that has had some awful games already. They should be ashamed of themselves
United have just played us off the park, we have just not been allowed into this game. I think we will do better in the second half and a good move to bring Dembele on I think.
I think in 25 years of supporting spurs that is the worst half of football I've ever seen, its even worse than the fa cup game against man city when they scored 4 past us with 10 men.
This has been simply appalling. Nothing has gone right and everything has gone wrong. We seemingly haven't even tried to press and the passing game is slow and sideways rather than quick and direct. In many ways United have played us like we have tried to play other teams and we're playing straight into their hands. We've settled down a bit after Dembele has come on but there is a long way to go. We can go out there and make it respectable if we play our game (tiredness is no excuse here so we should be playing our natural game). At 3-0 down too many of the players look overly scared of the occasion - if we get into them we can salvage some element of respectability but there needs to be some serious knocking together of heads both at half time and after this game, no matter the final score.
In january townsend gave interviews saying we could win all 3 cups we were in...look howthat turned out. This month we've had players giving interviews about how fit we are how hard we work, how we never give up and how we can get top 4 Well we cam see how well thats working out Heres an idea...how about we say nothing until we actually achieve something? Anyhow enough of my whinging ... mothers day awaits
Quick, while it's halftime.Get someone to nip back to Kings Cross Station.Spurs have left their football brains on the platform...... Every pass by a United Player goes to an unmarked United player.Every pass by a Spurs player goes to a marked Spurs player.Well,it looks like it. ....and to let Fellaini and Carrick score......and a give away to Rooney, who then fainted with shock! Not to mention their wingers are causing havoc and ours........never turned up!
SAF must have given the team talk. Utd playing with pace, width and energy. Passing and moving, looking for space, running at defenders.......you picked the wrong day to come to Old Trafford. Any time in the past seven months would have been fine, but nobody expected the miracle of Mother's Day. Utd playing like title contenders.
The difficulties of Pochettino's style of play have been exposed in this half. If you don't get the pressing right and shut off the supply at source, higher up the pitch, then you get the likes of Carrick, Mata and Herrera 10 yards further up the pitch than we want them hitting players like Fellaini with long passes, which become problematic even if they don't beat our CB in the air because the CMs are out of position to tidy up the loose balls. We either have to play our game better or adapt to the opposition and we seem unable to do either this match, and arguably across the course of the whole season.
