I couldn't agree more, my problem is, how can we motivate the team if they can't be arsed to motivate themselves?

The only team playing as spinelessly as us are Sunderland, even Leicester play with spirit. I think those two will probably go down with us...

Burnley are showing us how it should be done. Never say die. I wouldn't care less if we got relegated if we battled, but we don't. Yesterday, I saw a number of occasions where our players were tackled and went down far too easily expecting a foul, and stayed on the deck while the game went on around them. Page 1 of 'How to play football', play to the whistle!!!! FFS it's not rocket science. I was screaming at Taraabt AND Charlie for doing this on a number of occasions!!!!

No, never. Villa do the great escape every season. Give it a few more games and see how good Sherwood is. I remember at Spurs he had a good start then cost them a Champions league place. Plus Villa do have a pretty good team and decent attacking players with pace. I saw their goals on TV and couldn't get over how quick the players were. If only we had players with half that pace? 3-1 down and our players mess around passing it around the centre and backwards.

The writing has been on the wall for a long time, TF didn't have the bollacks to get rid of Redknapp especially after the hammers game which was awful, as much as I want us to stay up I won't be to disappointed if we go down, need to regroup & rebuild & if it takes 2 seasons so be it, want to see good young manager in place & to me Clements fits the bill.

But we were told by the tactic gurus that Zamora up top in a 4-4-2 would be disastrous.

We needed Bobby yesterday to play hoofball up to and make it stick. Doesn't matter what every mini-Mourinho thinks, this team is too sh*t to play any other way. Punt it up to him and try work off him. Its the only chance we have...........................................sorry, had

Agree one week we get people saying he shouldn't be starting and when he gets dropped and we lose we get people asking why he didn't start?

Sorry, just sick of reading all these end of the world as we know it posts. There are still 27 points to play for and we are only 4 off a safe position. Sunderland are in as big a mess as us. Hull have a very tough programme. After a long bad run, laws of averages suggest we are due a better one. Phillips has started playing well, Adel is back, Barton is back, with a bit of luck CR will start fielding a more settled team especially at the back with Ned, Clint, Caulker and maybe Traore for Yun, and stick with it. I hope he settles on 4 3 2 1 with Phillips the only regulnar wide man as we need more strength in the middle with our fragile defense. Think Barton needs to be one of the 3 in front of Henry and Sandro. But we can survive.

No ones giving up, it's just a case of being realistic!

Saying we are already down is giving up, being realistic would be saying that we are likely to go down unless things change quickly! We aren't even at the point where we need to look at the 'mathematically possible' stuff, 9 games to go and all to play for, if the fans turn against the team no matter how bad they have been then it'll only make it less likely that we will get the points we need.

Should never give up, but this 'mathematical hope' stuff is cruelly misleading. More relevant to look at what is 'statistically likely'. I haven't got the time or energy to work out how many clubs with 22 points after 29 games in the run of form we are in have survived the drop, but I wouldn't be too optimistic. However, 'statistically likely' does not equal inevitable, unless, as you say, we perform like we did yesterday from now on.

Read some really interesting stuff on the birth of 'statistics' this week, which I will bore you with if the opportunity arises.

    Sounds interesting, Stan.

What you mean Adel dropping in a 2-3 front-mid 5 or Yun and Darnell pushing up as continental wing backs while the holding players sit in a 3x3-2x2-1 quadratic defensive midfield pyramid selling system is not going to work?
