Might be the only option, as the end of the season draws closer I'm starting to sway from 'Well he's earned playing in the CL and been a fantastic servant to us who we will get a great price for' to 'Bugger it, just lock him down and handcuff him to big Vic and don't let him leave like last season'.
Indeed quite a turnaround from the Mane in the early days who was prone to a reckless challenge AAlbeit though over exuberance and prone to the dive. He now looks some player
Brilliant team performance and a well deserved point which is a bonus point. Mane best game of the season IMHO Forster certainly made amends for not coming out to take the cross that gave Chelsea their goal with some quality instinctive saves Phew...bring on Burnley!
Also just want to do some gloating so sorry in advance, I remember discussing us going 3 at the back a few games ago and being against it apart from in certain games and instead campaigning for 4-4-2, well 3-5-2 got scrapped 20 minutes into the game against WBA whilst 4-4-2 just got us a point away at the leaders. *Licks finger and draws a 1 on an imaginary scoreboard*
United two....looks like we will finish today one place higher. Wouldn't be a bad thing to stop the Spurs juggernaut (if you accept we may not finish above United #spit).
Reminds me of Terry Paine, he always wanted to pass when a shot was a better choise. Very good team performance, as Fran said, a great defensive performance is equally important. Felt Foster could have came for the cross that led to the goal but I think he was MOTM. I also think we need to hold onto the ball a little more in the last 10 minutes of a tight game like this one, it seems we give the ball away to easily and put unnecessary pressure on the defence. Would have snatched your hand of for 1-1 at the start of the game, so well played lads. If we play like this over the remaining fixture we have a shot at 5th or 6th, and even sneek 4th with some kind results elsewhere.
Must be days like this that make a manager proud. He knows we aren't the best team in the league and yet on our day we can be very hard to beat. The reason: good hardworking players who work together. (And no, I am not Nigel Adkins ).
A lot of this is down to Fonte. He is always dependable no matter who he is paired with. Just looks and plays like a captain.
Dušan Tadić has scored three times on the road this season for Southampton: Arsenal, Manchester United, Chelsea.
Always good, but also a player who responds positively to being given responsibility. He also stays calm...he stands and listens to the referee, then walks away after making his point. This stops other players getting wound up and involved.
