Could the main cause of the poor performance be the fact that we signed Defoe for massive wages? Robbie Savage suggested something like this at the time, It creates unrest in the dressing room. He said he had experienced it during his career
When the team gets thrashed when they're being played to their strengths then I'll blame the team, in the meantime I'm not going to make them a scapegoat when they step on the pitch handicapped by insane tactics. Though I agree PDC was right all along and have never deviated from that opinion, I won't let it stand in the way of the truth and that is that it's Gus who's got it in this state. PDC tried to play his way, which was a similer ideal to Poyet's, but PDC recognised it quickly and changed it to suit the team and it still failed. Count who many players started today who played at west brom just before PDC was sacked? The answer is Two players. Only O'Shea and Fletcher played today as well as that 3-0 beating to west brom. The 3-1 beating to palace just before PDC was sacked? Only O'Shea and Fletcher started that game. Blaming the players has to be the easiest way to air one frustrations. But fact is the buck stops with Gus and nobody else.
The team were utter ****..However, it has to be hard to perform in front of 40,000 plus who the majority are either silent or getting on your back..
TO be fair I agree with those who say PDC had it right, I've always said that. But some of you want it both ways and you can't have it like that. You want rid of the poisonous and unprofessional players regardless of talent. Yet when PDC did that with Cattermole there was absolute hell on. Pick a side FFS lads.
Man U fans are a 100 times more positive than ours marra..Their fans do get some bad press, but compared to ours they are different class at this present time..
PDC was mainly hot air about what he was going to achieve and laid the ground work by claiming the players were not fit, ready or hard working enough to match his expectations. In the end his odd ball tactics gave us some terrible performances and one point from seven games. He talked a good game, but then so do most of us.
