Since Harry has gone, Phillips has reminded me of Beckham quite a bit on the right wing. Ramsey thought it would be a great idea to replace him with the world class SWP today
Beckham was overrated for the majority of his career though and apart from crossing the ball and some free kicks was very average.
Yeah, overrated with over 100 England caps and many match winning performances for his Country. He had a superb first touch, which was one of the things that enabled him to get those early crosses in. Fantastic attitude and a superb engine. And you are comparing Matty Phillips with him?
COL, the nationalist in you clouds your judgement terribly in this regard. Its the same reason you were persisting with Ferdinand early in the season even though everyone else saw how bad he was . Playing 100 times for England is the same as playing 100 times for the USA, Portugal or Mexico. A decent team but it doesn't say anything in particular for a player. If you said a guy had played for one of the big teams like Germany, Spain, Italy, Brazil etc then I'd understand your point.

Give it a rest Swords..............comparing Matty Phillips to David Beckham is like comparing Andy Impy with Lional Messi!! Beckham was a very technically gifted player and was one of the best of his generation. Matty Phillips isn't!
Swords may have me down as a 'nationalist' as well, but the range and accuracy of Beckham's passing was second to none, which is why they liked him at Real madrid and AC Milan.
Beckham lost his place in the Man U team when he should of been in his prime. He lost his place simply because he was not good enough. Real Madrid made a lot of money from selling Beckham shirts but he was not good enough for their team. We remember him for every one good free kick he took out of every ten taken. He played for England for about seven years longer than he should of.
