Apparently Stoke don't want him because he's unfit. Doesn't sound too good if that's true, unless BR can whip him into shape.

it's almost a case of the boy who cried wolf, with all the player's who've been linked with us recently, but if he comes he'll be quality, can't really believe he did'nt keep himself fit, he does'nt seem like that sort of player, more than likely was pissed off at how stoke play.

That's a good way to look at it Doctor, I can't imagine that even Scott Sinclair or Fabio Borini would have done well at Stoke.

Agreed doc. Gudjohnsen would be class, even if he was unfit to start for the first month or two, he'd be amazing to have in training with the boys. As long as his wage demands were realistic, I'd be thrilled if he signed.

I,m on the fence about Eidur he seems to be well past his sell by date and struggled to find a permanent home in recent seasons so not sure if i would have with us.

"On July 8th 2011 Eidur Guðjohnsen signed a 2 year deal with Swansea City, with his wages down to £14,000 per week. He knows Brendan Rodgers from his Chelsea days, and is out to show he still has the hunger and drive to succeed with another spell at the top flight" - Wiki.......Looks like he has signed for us!..............

While I share your enthusiasm... stating Wikipedia as a source leaves a lot of room for interpretation!

So is this competition for Dobbie .... or a supplement. Last season when Dobbie looked like he ran out of steam, we sub'd usually with DP, which changed our shape.

I know, I know! haha. You know me man, I'm an eternal optimist, but I don't trust the media one bit! I'm fed up of getting excited over transfers only to find out the rumour started on here, or planetswans, or talksport or any other media outlet!

I'm believing this one more than any of the others recently, if that helps? ;)

Quietly pleased with this signing but I hope he hasn't come just to top up his pension pot.

I'm thinking that Buck knows him well and can get him to perform, otherwise the fact Stoke didn't want him and rumours regarding his fitness are worrying issues. The style of football we play does not allow us to carry any passengers - pass and move, pass and move - and fitness is a must in the Premiership however you play.

If his attitude and fitness are at the level we require then we have signed a good asset; but what we don't need are players trading on past reputations just cruising through games. It will be down to Buck as to how this particular signing will work out. Where do you guys see Gudjohnsen fitting in? Surely Dobbie has made his particular role his own for the time being, which is where I would see Eidur best starting for us. He doesn't have the legs to do Leon's or Joe's job and I assume Bodde will be our midfield steel. Striker? Not really. Chips in with a few but not really prolific. Interesting situation.

I think even if Dobbie gets fitter for next season, he'll still be a little short of 90 minutes in the Premiership given the demands involved at this level... and that may go for a few of our other players too. I'd imagine he'd be the sub for Dobbie at first to come on for 20 or 30 minutes, kind of like a second striker version of Kevin Philips? Evergreen, possessor of top rate technique, and never really had the pace to lose!

Totally agree Do not trust Wiki though due to the fact anyone can edit it.

I remember looking at David Cotterill's site once and it was quoted that "he was the fastest player in the Championship, since he is the only man to make it out of Cardiff without getting stabbed." A quality quote but it soon got taken off the site!

If this turns out to be true, I'm happy to have in the squad. When you've got younger guys like Sinclair, Dyer and Allen in midfield, there are time where an old head can calm things down. I remember the Wembley game and we appeared to be ****ting it at the start of the second half and we just needed some to calm it all down. This may be the man for that.

And as Scottyswan says, I'm also believing this more than the others I've seen recently,
