Fair enough - so he's not a mercenary - he just wanted to play for the best club in the world. <ok>

  2. Mercenary wasn't the right word for me to use. I wasn't talking about them being greedy, I was referring to their lack of loyalty to the team they play for. they still show passion when playing but its more passion for the game than for the club IMO

Yep, understand where you're coming from.

It's not an issue to me. Plus, foreigners aren't the only ones who can be 'disloyal' - we lost Owen and McManaman as well.

  4. As I said earlier, I wasn't saying it as a reason not to sign them, just that its part of the package. I'd sign another Suarez every day of the week. In fact, despite him being a ****, I'd re-sign the Suarez if the price was right.

    I wouldn't ... purely because he's one stupid incident away from a year + ban ...

But that's a different argument altogether.

I hope the Ayre rumour's aren't true, he's been pivotal in securing various sponsorship details. He brings in the bacon.

On field activity, I'd like to see us move in for both Danny Ings and Saido Berahino. Both suit Brendan's style, especially the latter, though his professionalism is questionable however I believe he is a perfect project for Rodgers. Also, I like Asier Illaramendi, he's available this summer, as it's clear to all Real will overhaul the midfield with Khedira departing too. Midfield wise, Henderson, Illara, Can, Allen, Lucas and Coutinho would be enough through the middle three. I prefer Lallana in a front three.

Personally, I think we could easily off load ten players this summer with Lambert, Borini and Balotelli three obvious candidates. Alongside Enrique, Coates, Illori, Aspas, Alberto and Wisdom (Shame, I rate the lad) Another centre half would be nice, Knoche of Wolfsburg is a good young player.

Illaramendi has been a bit of a let down at Madrid (but so was Isco till this season), Khedira has looked well off the pace but is getting little game time (which is causing which?)
You would do well to keep Illori, he looks like he will be very good.

Yes he has, but he hasn't been given sufficient playing time to prove his worth, which is understandable, given Kroos and Modric are in front of him. It reminds me of Coutinho's situation at Inter, a clearly talented young player who needs to leave in order to fulfill potential. I think he would prosper at Liverpool.

On Illori, give him a chance, yes, but Rodgers has shifted him to Granada and now Bordeaux, he isn't in his plans. Again, like Wisdom, a shame as we need a ball playing centre half to accommodate for Skrtel's lack of ball skills.

Sterling is stalling over his contract. Now on hold until Summer, looks like he wants to see if we make CL before signing, if we do no doubt he will want £130k to stay and argue we can afford it because of CL.

I'd get shut this summer if he asks for daft money, no way he would get in Ral's, Barca's or Bayern's team at present he is far to inconsistent

Ilori was never planned to come into the squad when he signed - a loan was what was always going to happen. Not so sure about two successive loans though. Provided he's over injury problems, I believe he'll come into the squad next season.

Not sure on Wisdom though. I'd have loved to have give him some game time this season in a back three rather than Lovren or even Can.

Good point, well made and backed up.

  18. I know very little about Ilori, the only thing I do know is he is very pacey. For that reason alone, I hope he makes it with us. Our backline seriously lacks pace at times and with the style of play we employ, we're usually suspect to a counter-attack.

    Johnson is off.
Toure has one more season at best.
    Manquillo isn't even our player.
Enrique can't get over his injuries and when he does, he doesn't get back to fitness before he's injured again.

That gives us Skrtel, Lovren, Sakho, Toure, Moreno, Flanagan, Wisdom and Ilori. Flanno and Moreno are LB/RB so ignore those. Skrtel isn't the long term future of the club (and the vast majority of fans don't rate him anyway), Toure is sparsely used as it is, even less next season and Lovren has been utterly ****e so far and won't keep getting chances. We want a long term, ball playing and physical CB to partner Sakho - Wisdom or Ilori are the best options to try with him. Wisdom was sent out on loan to get PL experience he won't get here given our overload of defenders. Ilori was meant to go out on one season long loan but hit injury problems - came back, massive defender overload problems and so sent out on loan again to keep on getting play time. They're both still rated (by LFC's coaches, not armchair fans like us) and both still young enough to have a future here.

But go ahead, write them off and consider them flogged in the summer <ok>

Got a spare 20mill for Rodgers to have another punt at a CB this summer?
