Exactly. It is 4-4-2 and have a go. If you start it get overrun in the middle you go 4-5-1 - but you know last week Bobby and Charlie dropped in to press the spurs midfield so we never got overrun. Our problem was and is getting our wide men to deliver crosses. If they do what they are paid to do we can easily win this tomorrow.
I'd be surprised if there's a single manager in the PL who talks to his players with that numbers sh*te like some do on here. It really is just noise coming from loudmouths trying to sound tactically savvy. In the real World its just a load of pointless drivel. The formation gurus should just stick to Dominoes and let the real football people get on with the job.
I think you've got that spot on - Hoilett needs replacing on the left and Taarabt will bring another attacking dimension. Zarate and Zamora available to add something different as subs.
If Taarabt is fit, I'd pick him instead of Hoilett. I didn't pick Zarate, as he and Vargas apparently can't play in the same team (only at Rangers!). Ideally I'd have Vargas, Zarate and Taarabt behind Austin for this game. As Souper says, if we play 4-4-2 with two holding midfield players, we will get destroyed in midfield. All this talk about tactics and formations being meaningless has got to be the most naive bollocks I've ever read. Formations are NOT EVERYTHING for sure, but if people really think that the likes of Mourinho just send very good players out with no instructions or set up, then they really ought to follow something they are able to understand, like snakes and ladders or something.
Zarate seems to have gone back to West Ham ... http://www.claretandhugh.info/zarate-returns-to-hammers/
He has returned for treatment to his knee and we are still picking up his full wages.....no that really is good business Arry (if true of course) But at least Vargas is free to play, if he had truly refused to play in the same team as Zarate (if true of course)
The trouble with some people on here is that No one is saying they are meaningless; they are just not as complicated as you keep making out. Your mate Mourinho couldn't beat 10 men the other night, so much for his tactical genius.
Not sure if you lot saw CR talking about playing to our own strengths. His game plan is STILL........................... OBZ and Austin play well together..get the ball to OBZ (I am not as tactically clever as you lot but I think that means....boot the ball to Bobby) He knocks it down,, and then CR said we play clever little diamonds around their penalty box until will get the ball to Charlie who scores (simples) So team Greeno Isla, Caulker, Ned, Yun Phillips Henry Sandro (...Taarbs/Vargas/Kranky) OBZ, Charlie I would prefer to play Phillips (whose birthday it was yesterday) on the right so It makes less sense to play Vargas who likes the right too. So if Taarbs isn't fit, I would have to play Kranky
I've never said they are complicated (although some clearly struggle with them). You said........"4-4-2 and have a go". Fair enough. I think that our version of 4-4-2 with two holding midfield players doesn't work well. We'll leave it at that eh?
