Season defining without a doubt. Manchester United Fixtures March 2015 Man Utd V Tottenham Sun 15 Mar 16:00 Liverpool V Man Utd Sun 22 Mar 13:30 April 2015 Man Utd V Aston Villa Sat 4 Apr 15:00 Man Utd V Man City Sun 12 Apr 16:00 Chelsea V Man Utd Sat 18 Apr 17:30
There's a thread for this!!! I genuinely 100% think we need to win the first three to get us top four. We'd be in with a good shout of top two even if we did but fourth is the minimum target and if we win those first three we could probably afford draws v City and Chelsea.
Yeah a good start would mean that you probably kick on and have quite a good season, a bad start and it'll probably get worse and you'll end up with not many points at all from that group of games. You're at home at least v Spurs and form out of the window v us if it goes in your favour then maybe it goes your way.
Realistically beat Spurs and Villa and draw with you lot but we definitely need to beat our rivals for the top four so we NEED nine points.
Yeah 9 from that group of fixtures would be a good haul. We need to not **** it up v Swansea this weekend and then it's a massive game against you lot with the possibility of leapfrogging you.
I think seven points from the first three should be enough, and even five still leave us in a decent place. Liverpool still have to go to Chelsea and Arsenal, and Spurs have City and Saints, so if we fail to beat one of them it won't be the end of the world. If we're still in fourth after those five fixtures, even if only on GD, I think we'll end up keeping it till the end of the season. More important is to keep beating the teams outside the top four challengers, as those are the ones which really hurt when points are dropped. If we miss out on the top four come the end of the season, it'll be because of draws against West Brom and Villa and getting doubled by Swansea, not because we draw against Spurs and Liverpool. At least eight points from our next five games, without losing to Spurs or Liverpool, and 13 points from the last five should see us over the line with 74 points. Although just going out and winning the next five games would make it all a lot easier!
Sure. The next five games are absolutely crucial. The way I see it now is that United will do very well to get 4th. 5th is a ****ing poisoned chalice. So if not 4th, then 6th or 7th will be the dreadful outcome. Does anyone want the ****ing Europa?? Looking at the matches, all the pundits seem to project United 5th on the basis of current form and the outcome of these 5 "tough" matches: (H) Spurs: DRAW -1 pt (A) RS: LOSE - 0 pt (H) Arsenal: DRAW - 1 pt (H) City: LOSE - 0 pt (A) Chelsea: LOSE - 0 pt That is only 2 points from a possible 15 and many of these matches are against direct challengers. EVery match is now a ****ing cup final for United and LVG. LVG must surely realise that the next 2 matches will probably determine his tenure at United. If Some how UNited can get a win against Spurs (against form) and a draw against the (cheating and/or lucky and/or ref favoured) RS, then United will be in a good position. And I would say should they then (against all odds) beat Arsenal at home, they should easily afford to lose against City and Chelsea and still get a CL place. All this assuming that they do well against the unfancied lower sides. Massive assumption. 7 points from matches (2 H and 1 A) against Spurs, the RS, and Arsenal: is it that too much to ask???
Worst case scenario in the next 2 games is you lose v Spurs we beat Swansea and then beat you. Best case for us obviously but just pointing out as I said earlier a good start to this set of games and you may well stay in there a bad one and it's going to be really difficult.
So you're saying the worst case is if we lose our next two games and you win both of them? No **** Sherlock
Clever. The best case scenario is that you lose against Swansea and we beat Spurs and we beat you. That would mean you would be 8 points behind us. That should set everyone up nicely for the great fight to the finish...
Just saying a bad start to the games will make it very difficult, same for us if we lose the next 2. #sarcytwat
Drab draw against Spurs Pummeled by Liverpool Drab win against Villa Drab draw with City (loss if Toure turns up in the mood) Drab defeat against the Chavs (Mourinho to send off the referee for giving United a throw in)
This is the forecast by most pundits. So anything better than these 5 points out of the 15 will be a bonus. 2 Must...matches. One must win (Spurs) and one must NOT lose (RS).
Spurs win Liverpool draw (couldn't beat Blackburn ffs) Aston Villa - 3-0 City - loss Chelsea - draw. Joses preferred result. Be happy with that. Should finish in the top 4 with those results. Just beat Liverpool. They have a worse defence, midfield and attack than us and are due a defeat. What better club than us? Gerrard will play and will completely disorganise them. He will ping hollywood balls to nobody and is certain to fall on his arse.
Robbie Savage thinks you will lose out to Liverpool in the race for 4th place http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/31837491
