    Great news for the academy.

I wonder what it means for the Hull Schools Indoor 5 a sides which have been running for years. I hope it isn't shunned out and the kids still get this opportunity either with the temporary surface they're talking about or on the 3G pitch itself (although it won't be quite the same).

Simply by giving people enough notice that they have time to find a new facility to use.

Fans from E1-E3 were given just a week or two to find a seat elsewhere in the ground. Season ticket prices were hiked 30% but people still had to sign up immediately to secure their normal seat.

These were not last minute decisions, they'd obviously been in the planning for quite some time.

It seems that the club have decided that by making things happen overnight, they can avoid any aggravation by giving people no time to react before they're gone.

I don't doubt it works, it's just not a very nice way to do things.

I am pretty sure a university recently did a study saying the rubber pellets were carcinogens and could cause cancer.

I actually thought no one would find something to complain about in regards to this.

What the HELL was I thinking eh?

The newer ones are alright. Miles better than the old sand ones like outside at the KC.

I don't really get this though. How are the academy gonna use it? All the rest of the facilities are at Bishop Burton. A proper purpose built academy would be ace, but this is surely just gonna be one pitch on its own which they'd only use for part of their training? How is that going to work? Are they gonna nip between Bishop and the Arena every time? Who's paying for this? Must be the council surely cos Allam won't spend money on something he doesn't own, we know that much. Great that they're spending council money on facilities for Hull City.

There's now a petition to save it. https://www.change.org/p/hull-city-a-f-c-cancel-plans-to-evict-local-clubs-from-the-airco-arena

Seen someone on Twitter suggesting it could be a quick fix to get through the audit. That would explain a few things. It might not be a long-term solution, but might get us Cat 2 status quicker.

If it was just about securing Cat 2 status, you'd think it would be something we'd sort ahead of the upcoming audit, so I think it's unlikely.

I assumed it was ahead of the audit? That was my point. When is it?

I'm confused about lots of the goings on at the academy, you'd expect everything to happen at Bishop Burton, but we still seem to be doing things at other sites, including playing several games at Ferriby.

I have sympathy for all those that have been kicked out with little notice, it's ****ty, but as City is my No.1 priority, I'm afraid I can't sign any petition.

The petition is pointless, I just saw it on Twitter and thought I'd post it.

I don't think a precise date has been published for the audit, but it sounded fairly imminent, certainly before these works would be completed.

Would we really spend £250k on a short fix to get Level 2 academy status?

Politics aside, I'd say that's well worth it if it gets you Cat 2 status a year earlier.

Wasn't a part of the audit criteria that the facilities had to have been In use for a specific period of time, hence the protest from the club about the previous grading?
