At today's press conference Kit said that a main issue since we last played Wednesday in December has been a lack of composure. And .. a new defender with Premiership and Championship experience will be joining today. No name given however. Any speculation on who it might be??
Heard a few rumours it may be Clint Hill, not happy with this not because of his age this is likely to be a ten game deal only so age doesn't matter, we have no pace at all at centre back and we need so ebody who isn't as slow as the titanic otherwise we should just give Burn a chance!
"The Club is delighted to confirm the signing of Michael Turner on loan from Norwich City for the remainder of the 2014/15 season. please log in to view this image The centre-back has featured in 24 matches for the Canaries this term, and has made more than 400 appearances across a career that’s seen him take in spells at Brentford, Hull City and Sunderland. He was a key member of the Hull squad that won promotion from the Championship via the Play-Offs in 2008. Turner would be eligible to make his debut against Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday. He has been assigned the number 18 shirt. Speaking from the Club's Motspur Park Training Ground, Turner said: "I’m very pleased to have the deal done. As soon as I learned of Fulham’s interest I wanted to come here straight away. I just want to come in and try and make a big influence on the team."
Yup, especially if he can do an Aaron Hughes who of course wore the No. 18 shirt for 7 glorious years. Footnote: Kostas Mitroglou was asssigned the No. 18 at the beginning of this season. Is this a subliminal message?
Funny that's what I thought when I heard about Turner, I thought he's like Aaron Hughes now all we need to do is find out who can partner him best. Think he might take the place of Bodurov although he's right CB.
Dan Burn - he's about as gangly as Brede was when he joined (Bambie jokes!?) Think you're correct though SuperBri and it will be Bodurov he replaces. Unless, of course, we go three at the back - Bodurov, Turner, Hutchinson - as you've advocated a number of times.
Hutchinson was like Bambie on Ice against Bournemouth, and for me Bodurov has had concentration problems and lacks height for a CB. You are right I do like the 3 center back formation giving full backs more license to attack, I've suggested it again this weekend, now we've got Turner maybe Grimmer, Burn,Turner, as the 3 CBs, with Richards and Amorebieta as fullbacks, but Symons won't play that.
Just seen that Turner played for Charlton when Curbishley was manager. He wasn't a first teamer - being an 18yr old stripling 13 years ago - but a star in the youth set up, so pretty sure Curbs would know him.
Sensible signing - the sort we should have been making last Summer or in Jan. Let's hope he brings a bit of nous to the back 4. Weird that he was at Inter Milan as an apprentice. I wonder how that came about.
Like others, I think this is good. What remains to be seen is whether or not he's an organiser at the back. If he is, then it's just about the ideal realistic signing for us.
too little too late? Still, we've got 30 points to play for. Never say never, it's all to play for........ He'll have a mare and then it'll be the 'he's a bit rusty but give him 5 or 6 games and he'll be fine' excuse! Christ, I'm feeling negative today!
