I have to say that while I have no particular objection to the contributions of some interlopers, it has been a breath of fresh air not to have threads hijacked completely and of course the ones that get totally derailed into situations bordering on farce. The art is to restrain their input in terms of volume but to ask where possible that any contribution is relevant to the topic in question. If these ideas were to be followed then I think we would all feel the better for it. Unless we have an obvious political thread for example, then I do not want to get sidetracked into JWM's love of the Tory Party every day. In case you weren't aware of his politics that is, sorry to spoil the surprise.

 

The reason there are so many posts is because Mr.Hillbilly Plum is desperately trying to keep this thread alive to make it look as though anyone actually cares. Bit sad really, but there you go.

Regarding the ban, my thinking was that it was a temporary arrangement to see how things are on here without those two idiots clogging up every thread. If so then I expect the exclusion to be made permanent as, just as Thurnby says above, it has been like a breath of fresh air on here the past two weeks and the experience has been improved infinitely without them. I personally will be very disappointed if they are reinstated and suggest if any canary is desperate to debate with them then best to do it on the 1p5wich board in future.

Has anyone actually missed them even a smidgen?

WCP's raison d'etre on this thread has been (a) as you point out, simply to keep it alive and (b) to leap on even the slightest opportunity to scream "hypocrisy", "double-standards" or "banning freedom of speech", which merely ends up highlighting how he simply hasn't understood what the problem has been

The irony, of course, is that the poll itself shows how broad the scope of opinion is on this board - ours is much the liveliest in terms of a range of opinions and almost all are welcomed and allowed to have their say.
