Were you happy with Sven & fab? There's only one foreigner I'd have and it pep guardiola! As for hoddle, if he's that good why aren't clubs throwing money at him already?

Sven and Fabio/Pat were better than Woy ffs.

Guess you know nowt about Hoddle then.

He's been running his own academy in Spain since 2008, and said he wouldn't leave it for a managerial job until it was able to run itself.

He was in talks with Spurs about taking them over after AVB. He was first team coach at DQPR.

Hoddle himself said he has had 26 serious management offers in the last few years.

What Englishman would you have then, greengrocer? Let me guess, good old 'Arry?

I'm not suggesting England don't deserve to be where they are, simply that they have to play the matches they are dealt. Switzerland have been in the top ten for years and they beat them pretty easily. The rest of the group is made up of smaller nations, but is that England's fault? They sit top of their group on 12 points but could actually continue dropping because of the standard of teams in the other group. A win against a tiny nation shouldn't be the same as beating somebody like Spain or Germany, but the way it works out, it realy doesn't seem fair.

Does FIFA ranking have any bearing on european co-efficients? In terms of getting a certain number of Champions League and Europa slots? I seem to remember Scotland plummeting and then the SPL losing a Champion's League spot because they ended up ranked lower than Iceland or something.

Why is it not fair? England are not proving themselves against the big teams above them when they play them.

    Nice contradiction.

I simply asked who you wanted. Fancy replying properly or will you just send another insult?

Perhaps not, but World Cup aside, they certainly aren't the 17th best footballing nation in the World. Suggesting that the likes of Costa Rica and Romania are better just seems ludicrous.

It's all Alf Ramsey's fault. He set the standard with an over-achieving side in 1966 and we will probably never emulate it.

No I aksed a question! Who would the forum readers prefer! You answered with your hoddle love in and the " suppose you'd want Harry?" So I came back with the fact I actually know someone who was on hoddles books in Spain! So I knew more then you thought didn't i? So your up for hoddle again? The same person who thought disabled people were getting pay back from an early life? I've seen a few of your replies on here and you come across as a ****er who talks down to a lot of the other members! Just an observation.

    I know we're ****, but, Romania?

I'd struggle to name more than 5 of their players. Pantillmon, Rat, Chiriches, Gardos, Maxim, can't think of any others, and I had to google to see if Gardos was Romanian. And none of them would get in our squad.

    Surely we're better than them.

You asked me why people weren't 'throwing' money at Hoddle, I answered.

If you could kindly point me to where you asked me who the forum readers would prefer, I'd be very grateful.

I've answered you questions, now please answer mine.

See? It is possible to respond without insults.

It's not so much that England are a bad team, there are some decent players, but its the fact that most other countries have improved whilst we have stood still at all levels. We have been shown to be lacking in attack, staid in defence and this inbuilt thinking of superiority simply because we more or less invented the game which the Hungarian's so clinically exposed back in the 1950's. We have had a succession of English managers who had both playing and manager success but to me the sheer pride of putting on an England shirt these days seems to be missing. To many of todays players its just another game whereas in years past you had players who would die for England on the playing field I get the distinct impression that for some of todays players they have a couldn't care less attitude, hence our fall from grace.

No that's my point! I didn't ask you! I put it out there as a question to who ever wants to read it! You're the one who replied with the attitude! Assuming I'm an Arry fan when you couldn't be further from the truth! Read it back from the top!

You put the question in a post REPLYING TO ME. You clearly were asking me.

You still haven't answered my question. It isn't even a hard question, I simply asked which Englishman you would have, but instead you got all touchy for some reason.

As this petty argument is disrupting the thread, I'm finished replying to you.

I cant see Guardiola doing a good job in international football. His whole approach is about philosophy, spending huge amounts of time reshaping experienced players to play a very specific way. I just dont think he'd have the time to do that with an international side that wasnt Spain.

Jose would be the best choice for me. He's all about the psychology as tactically he is very limited, and with constant communication rather than training he could get international players to run through brick walls for him the same way he can his club players.

No you didn't! You were sarcastic with the ARRY quote! And making out you knew hoddle had a coaching school in Spain and thinking I didnt! Feel free to ignore anything I say again!

Looking at the list of potential English England managers, there is no one outstanding. The front runner
seems to be Gary Neville with Hoddle, Pardew, Allardyce and Rogers all probably fancying their chances too. Hodgson is no better or worse than most of them. In other words - it's pretty dire. I doubt if we could make a decent England manager by rolling them all together. At least Big Sam would look the part in that case.

I have no objection to a foreign manager such as Ancelotti, Guardiola or even Mourinho.
