2nd driver? Robin Frijns @RFrijns 22m22 minutes ago Finally some news is coming soon... Real soon...
As much as Frijns would be good. He doesnt bring in much cash for a team that needs it. The rumour I have heard is VDG is in talks and he has lots of cash.
There been a lot of talk of McLaren and Ferrari helping Manor with their unpaid bills to them. I read that Ferrari are charging $1m a race for engines but nothing about McLaren. This made me think that kMag was being 'bought' a seat to write off some of the debt.
Would make sense, now It wouldn't have seemed too far fetched to see Marciello there as well. But Stevens snatched it.
I like the idea, but am sure the politics of a McLaren-Honda test driver in a Ferrari powered car will come into play.
Just read that Manor has passed all FIA crash Tests I really hope they beat Force India. In fact looking at the testing they might also beat McHonda Can't wait.
Manor said they are looking to sign a quick young driver. They are not rellying on sponsorship backing either. This project just seems so right but I wonder how they will do it and how long it will last. could be the new minardi if done right!
Manor confirms Merhi for 2015 F1 season, names developmental driver Roberto Merhi has completed the 2015 Formula One field after securing the second racing seat at the Manor Marussia team. As revealed by Motorsport.com earlier, the Spanish driver will partner Will Stevens in the season-opening Australian Grand Prix, where the team will compete with an updated version of last year's cars powered by 2014 Ferrari engines. Merhi, 23, made his Formula One debut in last year's Italian Grand Prix, driving for the Caterham team in opening practice. Well..... I guess, I'm not sure really. He's no where near abysmal but yet he's not exactly special either.
By the looks of the article, he's only confirmed for the opening rounds, so perhaps will get moved on for someone with cash.
The Haas F1 Team have confirmed they have purchased Marussia’s Banbury base http://www1.skysports.com/f1/news/1...hey-have-purchased-marussia8217s-banbury-base
Lots of chat that Manor won't be able to race due to engine software issues...something to do with their having to sell their old computers and not receiving software updates from Ferrari.
I really hope that is not true. Surely Manor would have at least started the engines to check for leaks etc. Then again they can probably do that with the starting umbilical chord. I hope they can run, it would be so disappointing after all their effort.
It may seem that I keep banging on about the financial iniquities within the sport and their consequences but the start to this season is becoming such a farce and all of the trials of Manor, Sauber and Force India can be traced back to a desperate shortage of cash. I wonder whether these three will make it through the season.
