Mumbling a racist term doesn't make it any less of a racist term.

It's just a mumble. It could easily be him mumbling nipper which is also a verson of it. Mumbles mean nothing. I have never and never will say or write the N word, I see it as deeply offensive. If Clarkson had said it I would have wanted him gone.

You can't tell for a fact he muttered a racist word. Far too unclear.

Thanks for reading and commenting Chilco. Yes, you pretty much hit the iconic Poldark characters on the head, although I might add one or two more.
I did watch much of the first episode of Wolf Hall and it was brilliant, but it wore me out..! I think watching it before I was about to climb the wooden hill didn't help. :emoticon-0175-drunk I will go back to it before it disappears off iPlayer.

I can't help but feel that you are both being incredibly naïve.

This isn't an isolated incident, he has been in trouble in the past for comments stereotyping Mexican people as well amongst other more ambiguous incidents.

Yet another member of the Chipping Norton set to be shown to be vile, power-hungry and amoral.

Now if you had used the slope racial slur I would have agreed with you. I wouldn't call myself naive, it's just I listened to it not expecting to hear anything while you did. That can have a effect on what you hear and not hear.

I know some really nice people from Chipping Norton. I've agreed with your view on Clarkson so far, don't go getting angry and tarring everyone with the same brush. that's villagism :)

And if someone is not wanting to hear something, they won't (not saying you). I am not a judge, nor a court of law, so I think it is perfectly reasonable to take into account the person and the public persona that persona likes to portray, when deciding what I think he intended on saying. If he didn't say it, he was unnecessarily close to the line and new exactly what he was doing.

According to a witness Clarkson did not throw a punch but did yell at the producer, using "every possible swear word you can imagine" and had to be held back.

I believe it's "tiger" but that could be a colloquialism.

How childish and spoilt to have a tantrum because steak wasn't available. They turned up at gone ten and the chef had gone home (leaving them soup and some cold food).
