Totally Jager. What other clubs spend is no business of ours. We have a structure that they budget for, and if the player will sign for that, then fine. Huw probably has a figure he goes in with, and doesn't budge (at least that's how it goes in my head!) and I love it.
Dai don't agree with that sorry, most of our starting 11, are Prem quality, and you will see that as the season progresses. This all reminds me of the arguments that went on when we arrived in the Championship, if I remember correctly Dai you were going on about Scotland not being championship quality, but he soon proved you wrong second half of that first season, and the same will happen this season, most of our starting 11 are good enough in my view, why do you think that Toon are after Taylor? Bolton getting Pratley? there is a need for some strengthening in the squad, but I'm not worried at all, look at Charlie Adams, was he a Prem Player before last season? No and now he's gone too Liverpool for 10 Million, so don't put too much sway on this experienced players issue, we will be fine!....................... please log in to view this image
Is spending less than £25m on wages a recipe for relegation? Yes, I would say it probably is, but I'd rather do that and take the Bolton/WBA/Sunderland approach to improving steadily to build a club without putting it in financial risk than go for the Hull/Bradford/Leicester model of all or bust in a season or two.
I don't see it that way mate, money doesn't equal success, look at a load of teams throwing money trying to buy it, Pompey are a disaster of a club, spending over 120% over their income, how can that be sustainable ? I don't agree with any business spending what they don't have, it sickens me that some clubs are treated like expensive toys of billionaires ! There is no way I won't the club to take stupid risks, and there is no way Jenkins and co will allow it, if we get relegated so be it, but I believe that the swans will prove the pundits wrong, and prove that a club can live within it's means without external investment.
You can't buy " team play ", only players . Our team play got the team all the way from League 1 to this season . Good managers take a bit of the " need to spend " out of the equation
what is the point of us reaching the premiership and be the whipping boys, fans dont like losing and if they see that we are not doing enough after getting a shed full of money to give us a chance as quick as we saw our season tickets rise will be even quicker to fall. players we are being linked with refuse to come because they wont accept peanuts, the players we will get are the ones that cant get into the premiership any other way, its about time the club got in the real world or this premiership that we have strived for will not last for more than one season.....but hey we will still have millions in the bank eh....im sure if wigan can pay players £60k/week to some of their important players then we easily can afford without breaking the bank £35k/week to our top players....wigan under Martinez and a chairman who knows how important it is to stay in he premiership are doing things right. and they get less through the turnstiles than us on occasions.....
Dai on this one you are flawed! Have you not learnt anything from the way we operate, have you not learnt from the purchase of Bodde, Dobbie, Sinclair, Williams. etc, etc! You are way wrong on this, and I'm glad that Jenkins will not do as you see fit!.............. please log in to view this image
all these players are lower league players are they not. none have played premiership football so your argument has flawed imagine if they were and we went in for one of them do you think they would come to us or go to another club that pay the going rate. we do not have one player that we can say will make it in the premiership and everyone who is premiership quality that we have been linked to have turned us down. that tells a big story whatever you say. i know what is going to happen we will get premiership players who are out of contention with their clubs as deemed either not good enough or past it and the window will close and we will find we are nowhere strong enough to compete, and all because we are not in the real world when it comes to wages for the top stars.
You fail to realise something else too Dai, it's not so much the players, as the system we use, and that system is something that Martinez has struggled to develop at wigan with their so called Prem experienced players, we have a team already that will compete, trouble with you is, you have little faith, the best team in the Premiership is MANU and look how the Spanish passing game made them look, Barcelona where playing with MANU, men against boys in the end, you were wrong about Jason Scotland not making the step up to the Championship, and your wrong on this too, he of little faith Dai, Breezy is right, it's about time you gave some credit to Jenkins and the board, it was not long ago, that you were shouting about no ambition last season, then we had Sinclair and Borini, which did the trick, do you think that our board don't know what's needed? they do alright, but they are not going to wast money on it, remember this WBA payed 3.5 Million for a Premiership experienced striker, where's he too now? and what did we pay for him! you'll be proved wrong again Dai, trouble is your blinkered, get a beer down you and relaxe........ please log in to view this image
We never broke the bank & we got out of league 1!! As??? That was it, runaway Champions!! We never broke the bank & we got out of the Championship!! When?? After only 3 attempts!! We'll never break the bank in the Premier too!! Thank god we have the Chairman we have, the board we have & of course the top manager we have!! It doesn't always work to throw money at something & long may our boards' policy continue... We are unique in the way we play. Certain players only, I said only, suit our style of play & thankfully our club will find these right players, at the price that suits Swansea City & no-one else!!!!.............
we will be battered with our system so everyone reckons, so i dont know. we will have premiership players playing as it stands championship players. do we risk being humiliated or do we get the right players for the job in hand, players who have experience who with a blend of what we got to give us a chance. im sorry but this will cost money, we was not the best team in the championship so that dont give us much chance with the big teams. i think as it stands we will have trouble with the unfancied teams as we look weak in certain departments...well we will see but id rather give us some sort of chance at least....
It's pretty simple; they don't have any spare cash. Or do you want your council tax shooting up? Why don't all the real fans chip in to add the extra seats? In return they could get reduced season ticket prices for the next few years. Or as Aber said, why bother. All the real fans have seats and they don't don't want plastics, so leave the stadium as it is.
Battered in league 1!! Battered in the Championship!! How many so called pundits, experts, journalists & fans have written us off before a ball is kicked every season. Getting a bit predictable, sad & boring now. Granted there's a huge step-up now. But let's see if we can prove them wrong again, by getting the quality additions to our squad, that I'm quietly sure Brendan & the board will bring in & one's that we've dictated the deal over & not some greedy player & his agent!! More than that, let's also do it playing our football. The Swans way......
must be y the brits are in so much of a recession, spend, create jobs, create income, surely our economy isnt the only one who saw and did that, oops ur govt didnt
Let's analysis this statement of yours Dai! which teams got more points than us? two, QPR and Norwich, what was our issue all last season? Striker, and how long did we have Borini for? 8 weeks! Now if we had had Borini all season, who would have been top? yes you got it Swansea city, because we are a better football team than both Norwich and QPR, both we will take points off this season, and Rodgers knows the Prem and knows what's needed, Jenkins knows what's needed, and knows what we can afford, so have some faith Dai, you need to look long term, and not worry about the short term issues, the club has got 90 Million to develop into a serious club now, and I don't want one penny of that money to line any overrated Premiership player's pocket, why do you think we are out in Spain looking for top players (goal keeper too), because they will fit into our system better, and will not be silly Premiership prices!............... please log in to view this image PS: By the way Dai, Eidur Gudjohnsen has agreed to join Premier League new boys Swansea! On a brighter note, I was just reading the news on BBC Sport about Manchester City changing their stadiums name because of a sponsoring deal. And in one of those red boxes that the beeb put in their sport articles it had a list of "Top Flight Sponsored Grounds". On that list was Swansea City - Liberty Stadium. I had to pinch myself looking at it, I guess it still hasn't sunk in then
The name of the company which bought the naming rights to the stadium, Liberty Properties PLC. http://www.libertyplc.co.uk/
