Without Valencia it's gonna be tough. Especially with Carroll and Cole injured we only have one fit striker in Sakho. But if we can get anywhere near the level of performances we had against Man Utd, spuds and Chelsea (could and should have been at least 7 points from those games) then I fancy us for a draw. Especially if Wenger has one eye on Monaco and rests a few. I also think Alex Song will be out to impress in this one. When he plays well it makes such a difference.
I remember Seaman getting injured because he did his back in (may have slipped a disk, I can't remember) reaching for the tv remote!
I thought David James had poor form because he'd been up playing his Nintendo console all night. It was definitely Seaman, might have missed an England game, can't be certain though...
Didn't somebody also miss several games because they dropped a bottle of salad cream on their foot and it smashed and severed a tendon in their foot ? I can't remember who it was ?
I remember that - it was quite nasty - who was it? Having a trawl of the internet and apparently David James did injury himself like that as well. Some reports saying David Seaman broke a bone reaching for his remote, and some saying he injured his back (I don't remember him breaking a bone - but then my memory isn't the best). Apparently he did his shoulder in reeling in a carp while fishing!
According to this - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dave_Beasant It was the one, the only Dave Beasant! I used to go to school with someone who claimed that 'on his day Dave Beasant was the best keeper in the world' he just never had his day...
Would be disappointed if we dropped points here, especially given that our recent record against West Ham has been excellent. The players have given a lot physically and mentally though in the games against Palace, Everton, QPR, Monaco & United. With Liverpool breathing down our necks, Spurs with only the league to focus on and United a point behind us despite how terrible they are, we need to keep the momentum going. Cannot afford to be dropping silly points now.
We'd have a good almost 5 days rest by the time we play West Ham, enough time for the players to have recuperated from the previous tough games.
We desperately need to rest Alexis i think his dip in form is due to tiredness Welbz is good enough cover on the left
I think Walcott and Welbeck either side of Giroud would be a good front 3 for this game. Unless you play Ramsey next to Coq, pushing Cazorla further up, then I'd play Ozil, Giroud, Walcott. Apparently Oxo is out for a month, Wenger is being very edgy on Wilshere (which isn't good!), but Arteta will be back in 3 weeks, Flamini is back now, Gabriel will be back in a week/next game, and Diaby is confirmed as DOA!
Arteta is apparently back: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...kel-Arteta-returns-training-ankle-injury.html Starting to train again, so will most likely be back in the squad after the international break. Flamini is back too, who's not so great, but good to have some more back up-options in that central defending midfield position. I think an Arteta-Coq combination would be interesting sometimes for the big games were we need to keep things tight, with those 2 together, would really free up our attacking players to literally do as they please as they keep things very tight. Think Coq could greatly compliment Arteta.
Yes, I agree. Some interesting times ahead. Shame about Flamini - heart in right place but a disappointing second spell over all.
