Would you be willing to pay more for the license? Or have ****ter shows on BBC if it ment Clarkson not on it? They have already admitted Top Gear makes them nearly £400m a year. That money is used to keep the license fee down. I see it simply as that's see what he actually did first. If he did punch the producer the police would be involved by now. So something isn't right there, unless BBC are covering it up again(but then they are good at that). People that don't like him simply don't take notice of him. It's what I do with Brand.
I don't know why you are making a deal about it. He's a yob and I'd rather not have him making a fortune off of a licence fee that I help to pay. It's quite simple. There's another thing. If Clarkson left the show, we might get some motorbikes being tested again.
How am I making a big deal out of it? You are the one wanting a celeb you don't like to get sacked. So just because you dislike the guy instead of just not watching him you, want people that enjoy watching Top Gear to miss out. That in my book is making a big deal out of it. All I said it will hit BBC big financially so it's line up will suffer. Which is all correct. He also earns far less money then he brings into the BBC.

Clarkson shouldn't be above normal employment contractual procedures, if he has punched a collegue in his workplace (whilst being on a final disciplinary warning), then his employers have every right to take action against him. I know that if I punched someone at work it would be an instant dismissal.
All those who signed the petition before knowing all the details, presumably don't mind their colleagues taking a swing at them from time to time?
If JC had indeed punched or committed any kind of assault ....surely the police would have arrested / questioned him by now especially given his celeb status??? Given there is no arrests etc etc I don't think it is as bad as the media circus is making out.
This has puzzled me all day. How can so many people make a judgement and participate in the ballot when they don't know the facts. Even Clarkson's co star, the one with long hair, admitted that he didn't know what had happened. I can't stand mob rule and that is what this ballot is about. Let the BBC investigate the matter and if it is proven that Clarkson struck the guy or threatened him then they should follow through their disciplinary procedures as laid down.

Can't see what all the fuss is about. If he has tried to hit someone it's gross misconduct and in any workplace he would be sacked. He's not above normal employment law or he shouldn't be. The BBC have to think of their image and if he's guilty they have to do the right thing or look weak. The petition is embarrassing. There are far more important things people should be spending their time petitioning on especially as we don't now the facts. They can easily replace him on Top Gear with some other embarrassing aging car fanatic. As we know no one is irreplaceable.
Quick turn around and: All those on here demanding his immediate sacking presumably don't mind being sacked on rumours of what might have happened with a colleague? If something's actually happened, deal with it. Until then, this is all speculation. Nothing of substance has come out. Which is odd in itself in these days of instant Twatterfests after any insignificant event. If Top Gear goes, it's just a TV programme and people will get over it. I was only recently talking to Mrs Onionman about TG and we came to the conclusion that the programme would stop within the next five years or so. I happen to like his stage persona. As I've spoken to him for about twenty minutes, I can say that he came across as an intelligent, quite thoughtful chap, hence my comments about "persona" rather than "character". I also hold that he's not above the law (or the need for reputation, etc) but I also think that trial by media is as bad as canonisation by media. Vin
The programme would wither on the vine sans the three characters currently on there. You only need to watch the execrable Top Gear USA or Top Gear Australia to see that. Chemistry amongst presenters and performers makes or breaks shows regularly, and in the case of Top Gear it explains much of their success. The name would remain but it would move into 5th Gear viewing figures in no time. Vin
Personally, I think 5th Gear has the viewing figures it gets because 1] it is on Ch5, and 2] it tries to be a proper car test programme at heart. I mentioned Jason Plato specifically because I think he's perfectly capable of making the shift over to an entertainment programme involving vehicles. Tiff Needell is OK too, but a line up of just May, Hammond and Plato alone could work nicely, I think. I'm also quite aware that presenter chemistry can be a make or break thing. I think TG has needed freshening up for a very long time, and this could be the good time to do it.
