Suspended with doubts over future. I like how it's changed from punched a guy to maybe throwing a punch. So which one is it? Hitting a guy is far worse then throwing a punch that doesn't connect.

Throwing a punch is the same as hitting someone...just doesn't do any damage. The intent remains the same...in any workplace you would get suspended/sacked for it.

Depends. He could have pretended to throw a punch and did it in a limped armed way. Only for the producer to take offence. So no it is not the same as actually hitting some one.

I might actually buy the Sun on Saturday just to see what Clarkson's put in his column.

Perhaps there should be a counter-petition for having him hung up by his ------- (insert required body part). :)

On radio 2 they had on Katie Hopkins defending Jeremy Clarkson - if that doesn't wipe out his support nothing will.
The problem is JC represents all the people that don't like PC and change. The sort of people who want to keep pounds and ounces or eat their chinese takeway but still call the person serving it a Chink even though they were probably born in this country.
I like TopGear. I like the parody that is Jeremy Clarkson.
However no one should be above the law, and people who support him should ask themselves if the producer in which the attack was aimed at was their son/daughter or mother/father would they would not want JC punished.

The producer involved in the Clarkson spat is Oisin Tymon, allegedly over lack of catering.

Lack of catering...now that is serious. Anyone who got between me and the last biscuit would deserve a smack.

It depends what he actually did. All we know is he 'threw a punch'. Which could mean either he aggressivily punched the guy, he mockingly punched the guy, he threw a punch that didn't connect but did it in a aggressive way or he mockingly punched the air.

You are right - we do not know the details and we must not convict a person without evidence.
However, there does seem to be a case of third strike about it from the BBC point of view.
I suspect the reason the shows have been stopped are because there are too many pre-recorded films with JC in them to make suspending him from the live bits meaningless and I suspect Richard Hammond and James May would not do the job with out him.

BBC say the profits from Top Gear help keep the license fee down. So no one should want him sacked. Imagine the price if Top Gear tanks if he leaves.....

Not sure. If it was Lovren, I'd saying missing the punch would be the bigger crime :)

Clarkson? I like his stage persona. People seem unable to see that he's an entertainment act and, as such, shouldn't be taken seriously.

He gets terrible press but some of his "crimes" have been deliberately edited to make him look as bad as possible. So, the full scene when he did the "shot in front of their families" made it perfectly clear that it was, of all things, a joke about BBC balance.

Plus, when the Guardian lists one of his "racist" crimes being describing a car as "as exciting as the entire French Air Force crashing into a firework factory" you know you have desperation on your hands.

Do I care if the BBC sack him? No, as he's not a personal friend of mine. Plus, he'll turn up somewhere else, as he's a big audience puller. If it's on Sky, my kids will be upset (I will not give Murdoch a penny, ever) but so be it.

440,000 signatures now. In 23 hours.

    Vin

EDIT: a quick check a moment ago suggests about 750 signatures a minute. I wonder if any other petition has exploded like this?

The 'eeny meeny' incident is certainly not a "desperate" reach.
