As we all know any result can go anyway but over the long term then these results even out.so over the last 10 results us and norwich have got 22 pts and ipswich has got 15 that will give us between 81 and 88 and with so many teams so close it looks like 88+ will get the 2 top places
Oh well, I thought that was what I was arguing. Those of us who reckon to know a great deal about the Championship would be unwise to predict with any certainty who will go up.
The Times had us to be 5th on 83... Mind you they were very dismissive of us and Jokanovic compared to the others..
what they are all missing is we are one of the best form team and the big plus is we never think we have lost a game until the fat man sings lol
I think if we can take all six points over Easter the hard work will have been done and we should be favourites for automatic promotion.
That is unlikely to happen - we have players playing internationals on the Wednesday and not due back to the club until Thursday.
I've been looking at our results in previous seasons when we have been going for promotion. It was depressing reading. We have had poor run ins many times from the days when Ron Saunders was boss up until two years ago. Even the great GT couldn't prevent us losing more games than we should have at the end of a season. Of course, similar patterns may exist for many clubs and I haven't looked at our rivals' past seasons. Maybe they will all end up drawing and losing games that they should win.
Except that this season we have 20 or so players ALL of whom could expect to start. I'm not sure that the other teams have that depth. The international break could be our biggest problem - we have more players going away (I think) than almost all the others. However, IF IF we can get through Easter in top 2/3 (or within 3 points of top) I think we'll do it. The form over last 5 & 10 games says we & Naarwich have (prob) best chance. The level of competition in the run in makes bournemouth & brentford favourites, and the most talented team appears to be Naarwich. If Derby recover from being without Martin, Bent & Eustace they would be my favourites. After seeing the team on Sat, where wolves threw everything at us, and we finished clearly on top, we just have to keep going.
i agree we need to be within 3 pts within the 2ond team with 5 games to go we could win 4 or 5 of them
