I was just reading the report about Cowie's interview on the WO and looked at some of the comments. (Obviously this means the veracity of the comment is questionable.) Someone there suggests that the admitted 'ambiguity' around the clause in Cowie's contract may have been down to Winter and so may have played a part in his departure. I don't see it myself but I thought it was an interesting thought and, due to the lack of info, plausible.
It is now clear the club were naïve and possibly amateurish in the way they handled this matter. There will be no further action to get Cardiff to pay us money, end of.
I would not be surprised at all if this was a contributing factor to Winter leaving. It has cost us a fair few quid.
Possible , but Overall Winter did a great job for us whilst he was here and steadied the ship when we were sinking fast!
Let's hope they are reviewing all the other contracts that were signed around the same time, on similar terms and conditions!
I don't think we'll ever find out the real reason behind Winter going... Maybe he found a job elsewhere, maybe he felt he could do no more to progress the club, maybe Bas felt he could do the job so thought his wage was an extra burden not needed... and maybe this contract issue was Winter's fault so felt he needed to step down. It's the past now, so all the best to him in his next role, and let's hope the club doesn;t make the same mistake twice... but another learning experience for every one!
