Stuart Downing was Aston Villas fans player of the year so please explain why you think Ashley Young is better? If its because he has played for England recently please dont bother ;0)
I am saying whatever way you want to look at it, Merieles is better than Gibson... Gerrard is better than Park etc.... yes agreed your wingers may be better.. But the real reason why you have won what you have over the last couple of seasons with an average centre mid is down to one reason only, Mr Ferguson. you give him any of the top 4 and he would have one the league.
Nani is better than Gerrard, Valencia is better than Spearing. Great. But what it all boils down to is which midfield wins the trophies come the end of the season. Why has our midfield won so much whereas yours has won **** all? Is your team ****ter than ours?
He didn't get more assists or goals than Young though, did he? And this was in spite of Young being deployed infield for half the season, which is not his best position. The best way to judge this is, before the summer who would you have rather seen in a Liverpool shirt, based on the performances of the 2 players over the years? You don't have to admit it, nor will you, but we both know that the answer is Young. And I will derive my satisfaction from knowing that alone.
Weirdest comparison ever. Surprised no one has picked up on the weird order. If you do it another way you can turn the tables completely. E.g. Gerrard v Tom Cleverly = Gerrard Carrick v Aquilani (he's terrible) = Carrick Park v Lucas = Park Nani v Downing = Nani Young v Cole = Young So on and so forth.
Statistics can tell you anything you want them too!!! Berbatov was top scorer in the league does that make him better than Rooney or Chicarito ?? who would you prefer to sell Berbatov, Rooney or Chicarito... ????
No but statistics do generally tell you a lot. The team that gets most points wins the league, the team that gets the most goals (usually) wins the league as does the team with the best goal difference. It certainly tells you more than Stewart Downing being voted player of the year by the fans, particularly given that Young was headed for the exit door from before Christmas and was never likely to win such a glorified popularity contest. But you skirted the issue. You know deep down that Young is a better player than Downing yet if Liverpool are to get Downing they will have to pay more than United did for Young and that must hurt. Probably what you get for being sad enough to come on our board WUMming.
And I would prefer to sell Berbatov, partially because I've never taken to him and partially becaus eof age. But Downing is a year older than Young. Again, this tips the balance towards Young, who of course, as we both know, is already the more talented player to begin with.

As someone said quite random comparisons which make little sense. I especially like the Park compared to Gerrard one!!!!!!! Yes both midfielders but both completely different type of players. They cannot be compared and anyone with any football sense would not compare the two. An obvious attempt at wumming but funny nevertheless.

gerrard v park??? depends what your comparing. if you want a hard working, disciplined player with a good engine then parks your man

I'm not one to make broad generalisations, but the Liverpool folk i've encountered on various forums have, in the majority, been a raving bunch of deluded ****heads.
There is so much wrong with the OP, I don't even know where to start. Why are you comparing specific players who are not remotely similar? Henderson and Adam are ****, by the way. I rate your other signings but not those two. This isn't the 70's or 80's...players from lesser clubs aren't going to slot into Liverpool's midfield in the way that Whelan, Craig Johnston and McMahon did.
