I definitely wasn't! Still in shock that Annie fell. She was miles ahead. Looked booked for the win. Cruel game.
I would just like to say thank you to all on here. I had to sell my ticket because of my cracked ribs but I've enjoyed every second of today thanks to the banter on here. Although I never got a winner on the board as such and I can't class any of the placed horses as near misses, it seems everyone has had a smashing time of it and left the bookies in tatters!! This truly has been a great opening day and could only have been topped if Hurricane Fly had won the Champion. Special mention to Oddy who quickly dealt with the WUM earlier and Stick, take a bow for your F/C. Bob, for putting together the preview and a great eway shout on Arctic Fire and a whole host of others who posted up winners. Anyway, enough gushing from me, you're all p****s and I'm going to smash you in the comp
Well, what day... Watched the racing at work, but with no sound though, and it gave me goose bumps just watching that...!!! Dear, oh dear, what can we say about Annie... A great day never the less, even though it cost me a return of over £800 for the day, and a bit more with some of the other accy's I had. Yes, yes I know, there silly bets but hey, I bet we all were hoping for that four timer to come in at the end...!!! Oh, well. Congrats to all the ones who have picked out some great picks. Stick at the end, Take a bow sir, Drever for Gods own, you've been banging that drum a long time im glad it cam in for you. And to all the others, well done indeed... I just about scraped a profit for the day, but the day was excellent even without the sound. Good luck to all for the next 3 days... Its gonna get emotional...!!!
A fantastic day - a bit TOO busy for me personally as I am doing live updates to a very large competition on the fly (no, not That Fly!) but enjoyable nontheless. Well done all those with winners - and I'm amongst them for once Still got acca running onto Don Poli so may turn out better yet! As for the comp Drever .... one Mick Doonan blew his wad on Irish Cavalier and will take some pegging back! But you can do it Results up soon
Just want to offer heartfelt commiserations to all who were let down by the fall of Annie Power. I have had a few of those in my time (never quite so home and hosed as that) and they are gutting when you have done the work summoned up the courage to go in and looked to have got everything right, only for fate to take a hand. The horse does nothing wrong especially and often not even the jock, it just ends up being one of those things. I have walked around for a couple of days afterwards just seeing the moment when many thousands went up in smoke when all looked decided, yet it does wear off and does make you more philosophical about the whole game, which is never a bad thing eventually. It's just really bad luck at the end of the day and we take it on the chin - but hopefully it means we are due a bit to run for us now, so lets hope when you have another big pot on the boil perhaps the horse travelling all over your one will not get the gap leaving you to benefit from lady luck next time.
Very wise words mate and for me it was "reduced winnings" rather than lost Money. Still had a fabulous day and was really happy to see the mare and Ruby up and well. If she had got over the last I would've had about a Grand more on the old betting account but am still in realy good shape so you take it on the chin
Your obviously referring to me. Just because I don't like Paul Townend shouldn't affect you. I just like wumming you as your always Alerting everyone when your the biggest bullshitter on here nearly.
A pretty good day for me, was on the 3 Mullins short ones that won. I did lose some back on Annie Power though which was a little annoying. I only bet singles, so I wasn't affected by the 4 timer. I feel for those who were. Was great racing though, I was very impressed with Faugheen in particular. I can't help but think that with the pace they went My Tent Or Yours had he run would have given him a credible challenge, as the others where just far to slow to deal with his tactical speed, as I knew they would be
Yeah course mate. I just love that horse and I was gutted that he came up short today. He deserves some respect if only for what he did in the Neptune earlier in his career. He just isn't quite good enough........ Hopefully come Friday I will have one to be proud of!
Three impressive winners from the Willie Mullins stable but the headlines were made by the one that didn't winner. Annie Power was one of my certs of the meeting (although I didn't back anything in that race). I had Douvan which was the best value runner out of the Mullins favourites. Had God's Own and Hurricane Fly each way too. Didn't really put too much on today though. £1 wins on Un De Sceaux and Faugheen were not really worth it The Arkle may have been a bit more interesting had God's Own jumped the final fence closer to Un De Sceaux.
Stick can you teach Charlie how to aim horses at the festival? He seems to need the help!! What a day!!
