The Court of Public Opinion

So I was out last night with friends and them of him who's a geordie and lifelong supporter went on a wee rant saying how "disillusioned" he is with the club, signing all of these French players he's never heard of, etc, he wasn't mad, so much as disappointed.
I tried to explain to him that I have watched those players play, and he should be excited for their arrival, nobody besides the top few clubs and sunderland have added to their squads, etc...the same argument I/we make to the doubters on here.

Anyway, it made me realise that the opinions I'm usually hearing these days are of the fans on here, that are (predominantly) in-the-know, and have a pretty good knowledge of other clubs, players, leagues, etc. So I'm wondering, what're others hearing from everyone they know (who aren't not606ers) these days? I like many on here am pretty stoked for the new season, but are we more alone than I realise?

 

A few of my mates go on other forums such as Newcastle online and the like.
They generally have the same opinions of myself that we have done very well so far but as always we could and still can do better

I should clarify I wasn't suggesting this is the only source by any means, but having read the comments that sometimes get posted on other outlets (Sky article comments for example), I've come to realise there are some diverging opinions and I don't really know what the average fan's feelings are right now
