I'm off to study the handicaps and 4 miler now, see if I can find anything that will like good ground ..................
Anyone else looking at the handicaps and changing their minds I have backed pendra at the last 2 festivals and has done nothing if I leave him today he will probably bolt up especially as so many people now fancy him too, but like oddy gevery chambertin keeps jumping out at me but he has done bugger all really! In the 4 miler I like broadway buffalo and in the last Cocktails at dawn (changed my pick from the preview) but Thomas crapper looks well treated on his hurdle form and has good course form- o am working my self in a state good job I'm just lying on the sofa!!
I was looking through the "special bets" section last night and happened upon Graham Wylie at 50-1 to be leading owner. With the likes of Shaneshill, Nichols Canyon, Bellshill, Katgary, Boston Bob, Briar Hill and Black Hercules (plus a few others) running for you, its not inconcieveable is it. Worth a fun bet I thought. How many winners does it usually take I wonder.
Hello Old Stick, how are things...Graham Wylie to be leading owner..I will stick a few quid on it for fun, but if it loses its all your fault.
Hiya Brizy, hows it going? Great to see Cheltenham bringing back some old faces! Lingfield on the 25th if you are in the country!?!?
I perfectly well, will not be back for some time, thanks for the offer though. This is the first year in a while I have had a few minutes to read the cards, best of luck to you!
I spend the whole mornings at Cheltenham doing that. By 1.30 I have it down to about 10 horses in each races and having usually talked myself out of the winner. I don't really fancy that much today. The four Willie Mullins favourites are short enough. What A Warrior won his first two races this season before pulling up in the Hennessey. A return to better ground could help. Might have a bet on Sam Twiston-Davies to be top jockey. Paul Bicholls has been quitely going about his business this year and with all the talk pre-Cheltenham being about Ruby Walsh and Tony McCoy, STD could steal the show.
The bookies doing their best to sound scared but surely they are in the wrong game if they are not looking forward to it today. Mugs queuing up to back 4 horses that are all way shorter than they should be and all beatable. They are laying a 4 horse accumulator at around 20/1 that should probably be closer to 60/1 and in the unlikely event they do all win, they will have a good chance of getting most of it back from the type of people who will take those odds. You know me, id go 3/1 Douvan, Evs Un De Sceaux, 7/4 Faugheen 4/5 Annie and take the lot! But then again, im not a bookie.
Fair doos to Ladbrokes for the first time in about 10 years, if they are laying for more than pennies. 3/1 Douvan, 4/5 UDS, 6/4 Faugheen, Evs Annie Power Someone had to go and do it, steal the action and still have the odds in your favour.
I take that back Looks like they offered the prices for about 10 mins and laid to pennies. No doubt David Williams will be out shouting about going 3/1 Douvan and Evens Annie Power when they have only laid them to lose a couple of grand at the most. Cheap stunt, no balls, joke outfit will be out of business soon.
Thank you Corals - I knew there was a reason I have been bumping my Priority Loyalty up to Gold - "Place a £100 bet on the 2.05 and we will match that as a free bet for EVERY winner Ruby Walsh has on day 1 - Back the winner and we will double it to £200" So if Un De Sceaux wins, not only will I win £80, but have £200 in free bets for every Ruby winner - what a top promotion
Morning chaps! Not much Cheltenham action for me today as its my daughter's first birthday! Having one bet to ease myself back into things: 1.30 - SEEDLING e/w Got 20/1 yesterday, he's won his last 3 hurdle starts, including last time out at Cheltenham. Back in November he beat AS DE MEE who came back out on Saturday and won the valuable Hurdle Final at Sandown. Happy punting everyone, and here's hoping all horses and jockeys return safe and sound.
Right. Midnight oil burned. Investment portfolio pretty much complete. Punted my plums off. Couple of hours of work even done this morning, but now clocked off.Ready to head for the Royal Exchange hostelry, Sale Place W2 for the afternoon. Splendid. Bring it on! No doubt I'm about to lose my shirt.
The Willie Mullins Festival begins with the Irish wizard having just the odd eleven declared runners, four of them short-priced favourites, for us armchair punters. In the opener, purely for an interest against the Mullins quartet, I will hope that Seedling’s hurdling improves for the stronger competition in a faster race as he has a couple of pounds to find on the book. In the Arkle, I would like Paul Nicholls’ grey Vibrato Valtat but his 0-3 course record is enough to temper enthusiasm against the supposed Mullins’ good thing. All the talk about Faugheen is reflected in the cramped odds in a race that is more open than the betting. It is hard to fancy The New One despite his luckless run in the race last term and title holder Jezki made mistakes last time when put in his place by old boy Hurricane Fly. Has Ruby picked the right one? Is Jezki McCoy’s best chance of a first day winner? Odds-on shot Annie Power’s only defeat has been in the World Hurdle and even though fitness has to be taken on trust she has nearly a stone in hand of her Mares’ Hurdle rivals on the ratings in what looks a forecast race. The best betting prospect of the day appears to be Sego Success in the National Hunt Chase, where hopefully he will put in a clear round for Sam Waley-Cohen.
Douvan is going to be 2nd favourite very soon at this rate been hitting 5/2 then back into 9/4 constantly past hour.
