The biggest ten games we will face in the next ten games. It feels like 10 mini cup finals! It couldn´t be tighter at the top of the Champ! 1 Bournemouth 36 35 66 2 Derby 36 29 66 3 Watford 36 28 66 4 Middlesbrough 36 28 66 5 Norwich 36 31 65 6 Brentford 36 12 62 7 Ipswich 36 17 61 8 Wolves 36 6 58 I think we are going up (maybe)!!! COYH COYH COYH !!!
some are predicting an all yellow top two, wouldn't that be cute! Long way to go still and injuries and refs will play a part but we definitely have a golden chance and the squad to do it! It's so nerve-wracking and exciting!
The all yellow top two is definitely my personal wish, if that happens I'd be quite happy to be runners up to the Golden Boys!
Of the top eight, five will not get promoted. I wouldn't like to guess, which those five will be. However, having heard that Wolves had a player sent off against Bournemouth but the decision was later rescinded, I know at least one of the teams I would like to be included. The carding stats for Bournemouth make interesting reading.
I've been saying it for ages, they have played against 10 more than anyone, somehow they manage to get players sent off from the opposition all the time, without that they'd never be where they are imo
they have a player by the name of calum wilson that is very fast and he just gets taken out .The teams with the easy run in are norwich and bournemouth and they are the ones i would fear in the play offs .the rest i think we would beat
That may be the case, but the point I am making is that against at least two of the sending offs against top eight teams have been rescinded. In other words they won two crucial games against sides that had a player unjustly sent off
I’m amused to see The Times attempting to make sense of the fight for promotion from the Championship this season. Amused because, such is their obsessive fixation on all things Premier League, I’m stunned that they even knew the Championship existed. Nevertheless they have assessed all of the current top eight and predicted the final outcome. Obviously, why would you include current form an any analysis? Oh no, this goes out of the window and in their club-by-club assessment they choose to focus on the fact that we have had four (yes four) managers this season, one of which only lasted eight days (I know, eight days) and was unbeaten in that time (didn’t lose a single game). Lets ignore the fact that Joka took over months ago, The Times has also chosen to ignore that since the beginning of December we have played 17 games, losing four, drawing one and winning 12. We are one of the top scorers in all four divisions, have gained well over 20 points from losing positions and have two of the top five goal scorers in the division. Baffling, but not surprising. For the record, here is how they see the top of the table come May: 1. Bournemouth 86 pts 2. Norwich 86 pts 3. Middlesbrough 85 pts 4. Derby 84 pts 5. Watford 83 pts 6. Brentford 77 pts 7. Wolves 76 pts 8. Ipswich 75 pts
They might be right, but it won't be for the reasons they give. I still firmly believe that Bournemouth will crack and lose in the playoff semis (might be worth putting money on them as champions then).
The Times attempt to predict the final outcome is only ridiculous in the sense they're trying to predict what has been shown to be completely unpredictable! I'd guess they're as likely to be right or wrong as anyone else attempting such a futile task. I suspect the sendings off question is equally unfathomable in terms of the impact it might have had on individual games. Red cards don't always seem to help the sides with the extra player. Even injuries don't always have the impact you might expect. Sometimes current second choice players given an unexpected opportunity flourish. I suppose if I was a Times journalist and not a Watford fan I'd think character and team spirit would be key in a tight finish but how do you judge that? Results when you're up against it, the ability to score late on, the willingness to put your body on the line, the never-say-die spirit...all might be needed. Yet you couldn't easily assess these qualities in all the contending teams unless you watched them all regularly and, unless you can be in several places at once, that's not possible. So if my editor demands an article on the race for the Championship, what do I do? Either I develop a sudden serious illness which prevents me thinking, let alone writing, or I cobble together a rather shaky piece about managers etc.
An average of two points a game would usually win you the league over a saeason so 20 points out of a possible 30 is probably not far from what is needed. But then with so many teams in contention I would expect 22 points from the run in would be more realistic and a team that gets 88 points from 46 games and not getting auto promotion can consider themselves unlucky
I beg to differ Theo, it's also ridiculous because The Times knows f**k all about the Championship (although you could argue that knowledge is not required given that it is so unpredictable).
Better than the times? http://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/sp...or_automatic_promotion_from_the_Championship/
I think that there's more chance of someone successfully explaining to me the principles of Quantum Mechanics than predicting what the hell is going to happen over the next ten games. First things first.... beat Reading on Saturday, and beat them well. Go on from there.
