Not read the full thread, but do we know how much consultation with the fans was carried out before the most recent Cardiff badge change?
The club met with a cross section of fans and agreed to switch back to a primarily blue badge, with the Bluebird logo being the main thing on it. I don't think they took options back to the fans to discuss, they just acted on the information they'd been given at the fan meeting. The Cardiff fans on here seem happy with it.
As it's blue, with a big bluebird on it, I think they're happy to accept the dodgy little dragon as a compromise(I get the impression they were expecting something worse).
So only a single fingered salute then! Seriously though, most Welsh people I know are very proud of their heritage. I'm not sure how they would respond to an Oriental dragon being used to represent them. Personally I don't think this is the victory it's made out to be.
Castro, are you talking about the dragon on the old 'Tan' badge, because I thought folk were discussing the small red dragon on the new badge, which has nothing but Chinese influence. I folk are a tad at odds in their desire to be right about a dragon.
It has some influence from the dragon on Cardiff Town Hall. Have a look at it. This has enabled them to keep Tan happy, appeal to Orientals and also be able to claim they are uphold local connections as the Cardiff dragon on the town hall doesn't bear too much resemblance to the dragon in the Welsh flag. Result is that most people are reasonably happy. A shame we don't see the same sort of thing at City.
Hmmm, not sure, Castro; I would agree the big one he originally imposed fits your description, but the wee one under the Bluebird is very definitely an un-winged, un-Welsh friendly type. If Allam did dragons, they would spew lies and deceit instead of fire, so be careful what you wish for.
It looks like the one in the photo OLM posted earlier of the one on top of Cardiff Town Hall. At least the neck and head do, more than it looks like the dragon on the Welsh flag. I thinks whoever designed it has done a good job of keeping all parties happy and the club statement did similar. Something our owners could learn from.
Whilst we're talking about badges, and whatever the outcome of the appeal thingymabob, I assume our badge will be changing again, can the fan meeting group see if we can take the chance to change the tiger to something a little more ferocious looking? Assuming it has the backing of the supporters. I think the current one could just be tarted up to be honest to make it look a bit more angry, but it does look a bit to happy and cuddly in my humble opinion.
I dunno why people worry so much that our badge isn't scary enough. It's just a logo. We don't actually need it to terrify our opposition.
