Altidore has found his level by the looks of things...Nowt against the lad, but he couldn't cut the mustard in the Premier League..
Did you see his first goal? Pure instinct, the way he wasn't picked up was of lower league standard but the goalkeeper did everything he could, Jozy rounded him like it was second nature, bizarre seeing him that sharp and self assured. Has to have been a confidence issues here, I think feared the league when he signed for us, still had visions of his Hull nightmare. He even chipped the penalty too.
Watched a few of the games, and Red Bulls looked very decent after going behind, should have won that game. Sounders look the team to beat, really good balance, have to say the quality is generally pretty poor overall, but the improvement is clear every year. Orlando v NYC was a ****ing awful game, they'll take a few weeks to bed in their sides I guess.
I think its really going to take off this time. In a few years time I think itll be only bettered by premier league, la liga and Bundesliga.
Toronto FC striker Jozy Altidore has won MLS players of the week honours for his two-goal performance Saturday in Vancouver against the Whitecaps. The goals were the first for Altidore in Major League Soccer since he left to play in Europe in 2008. The 25-year-old U.S. international scored in the 32nd minute in a nifty combination with Italian playmaker Sebastian Giovinco. Altidore added an insurance goal with a cheeky chipped penalty in the last minute of play after being taken down in the box by defender Pa Modou Kah. It was Toronto’s first-ever win at B.C. Place in MLS play. Altidore is replacing English striker Jermain Defoe, who also scored twice in the 2014 Toronto season opener and was named player of the week. The weekly player award is selected by a panel from the North American Soccer Reporters.
