Sitting here Watching Villa vs West Brom on mute with some music on, drinking my home made sloe gin and its bloody lovely.
Made it last year and just opened it and really enjoying it, 1st time I've made it.
Anyone else make there own booze and what's your favourite ?

Thing that worked best for me was white wine. Slap in a bit more sugar and it comes out a bit drier and lighter and none the worse for it. Me and the old fellah got pie-eyed together syphoning it out one year :)

    Happy days...

Used to make loads in the 80's when beer and wine were more costly. Had a couple of kegs and lots of demos, best wasd elderberry made cider too from .
Was the sloe gin fermented and distilled or made like a liquer, adding sloe berries to gin?

Planning to start a kefir beer plant in the spring. This uses natural yeast and friendly bacteria to make traditional ale as brewed in middflw ages. Supposed to be full of flavour without the high strength.

Used to have Jeddah gin in Saudi. Not a bad drink but a damn sight better than Sid, a lethal spirit, guaranteed to make you blind for a week after 1 drink too many.

This isn't a good time to be talking about drink though. I'm having a dry March!

I just added sloe berries to a mix of gin and vodka and sugar and left it for 6 months, I was planning on leaving it longer but couldn't resist it any longer.

Might give it a try. There's loads of blackthorn in the area so the berries won't be a problem just go to get there before the bords, should be in flower soon so finding targets easy.

Yeah, I know but expect to be busy with the kefir beer through spring/ summer so should be OK for autumn

The thorns are buggers I know, not as obvious as hawthorn but just as pointy!

I make my own. Have done for over 30 years and all from fresh usually hand picked fruit and veg. Best raspberry gooseberry or strawberry. Strongest probably elderberry. Got loads of sloe berries and blackberries in freezer for this years make. Usually leave at least a year before drinking. Great though. Once had 2000 bottles in storage that i had to get rid of when i moved

My old mate Bobby who was a fireman had a homemade still in his garage.
It went bang one night & blew the ****ing door off.
I once made some cider out of crab apples & it was blow your socks off stuff, great though.
