Hi all. Wrote this and talked a little about Ashley Williams and other defenders. http://thepenaltyking.blogspot.com/2015/03/is-british-better.html Hope you enjoy.
Ash is quality but at 31 years of age i think that he has missed the boat with regards to playing regular for a really big club and should have been sought after a couple of years ago...we are lucky nobody did...
Yeah it was unlucky for him. Any young Swans on the horizon that possibly are thinking of changing their allegiance to England? Also I forgot to say good luck with the rest of your season, I'm a big fan of Monk, seems to have his head screwed on right.
Do you really think that valley ? . I cant see it myself i see him as a bench warmer like most of our players who leave us for bigger clubs...He would be a fool to ever think about leaving us at 31 years of age today as he can still be playing first team football for a couple of seasons yet for us but never for a bigger club.....
There have been top clubs trying to attract Williams away from Swansea City in the past, but the club put a big number on his head, and Ashley has grown into a very good captain and player not only for us Swans but for Wales too. Arsenal were linked with him a few seasons back, but wouldn't cough up our valuation, I think that Williams loves it here at Swansea, and I think he'll retire here, he has a few seasons left in him, and in my opinion is easily capable of walking into any top 6 club. When you talk of is 'British better' well in a general sense the facts would say NO, but if you are simply looking at defenders and especially centre backs, then I would say the answer would definitely be YES. A well presented piece there PenaltyKing, my only criticism is you naming James Collins in making your point, Collins for me is below par, and has shown it for Wales on numerous occasions, I know he's doing a half decent job for the hammers, but he wouldn't get into a Swansea team, and I for one do not rate him, and cringe when he's on the team sheet for Wales, other than that a very good read mate..............
I would agree with this, and if he was 3 or 4 years younger, there would be serious pressure from the top teams.......
Really? from the way you're describing Collins it sounds like how I describe Jagielka play for England...he's good just not as good as Cahill/Terry (Terry is a prat but no one can deny he is a talent) Thank you for the comment though I'll be sure to add it if ever I talk about him again haha
Bet Villa, try and buy him. Looks like he's finding his game as well now, just hope it goes missing when we play them.
thought he was ordinary Valley however he did take his goal well. even the commentators were saying he has been hit with injuries and lack of form
I am a fan of scott and wanted us to bring him home before the season started. He should never have gone to Man city and was very gullible in thinking he would be a first team regular for them. the wages was not an issue as he was not on a great deal more than he was on with us and he is a wealthy man in his own right anyway. I saw his move to man city as being a waste of his talents and he had two seasons where he was a forgotten man so its great to see him playing again....If he had stayed with us he would be a super star by now and god knows where he would end up......If we have a chance of getting him in the summer then we should....
Michu looks to be on his way back as napoli has not played him for most of the season, Do we give him a chance now that bony has gone to regain his form or do we let him go. You dont just become a bad player over night there are reasons why and if he has sorted his problems out then it would be foolish not to see what he has to offer. Im in two minds myself knowing what a good player he could be.....
Nice goal by Sinclair, is he on loan at Villa or have they bought him? Anyway Michu is looking like a forgotten hero, not sure where he'll end up, maybe he'll join his Camel Jockey Manager.............
