I've got a lot of time for young Robertson but he desperately needs someone to play 'to' and 'off'. Time and time again I have seen him do the old 'one-two' run forward to the empty space only to see his team-mate lose the ball and leaving him stranded up field with a big hole in our defence. Today he was mostly responsible for their goal by failing to tackle the player who had the ball. The player left him for dead came inside and sent the ball across to the left wing from where the cross came that resulted in their goal. Sunlun have no end product and will surely go down, hopefully instead of us, with Leicester, QPR or Burnley. I consider that we lost a point against Stoke and 2 points against Sunlun. These single goals against us are proving to be very worrying and have cost us 3 points in the last two games. Should have scored on at least 2 other occasions and sealed this game up but it wasn't to be. We need an 'engine' in the middle and neither Huddlestone, Livermore, Meyler nor Quinn can provide it. Hernandez is useless up front (imo) and perhaps could serve the team better as an 'engine' as he has shown he can beat his man so could be able to take the ball forward for N'Doye and Jelly but I guess Steve Bruce must have looked at this option and preferred to keep him on the bench as a sub for the aforementioned.
I think the mods should do something about the spammers who put the same posts up on multiple threads.
Just some observations from what was one of the better games to watch at the KC. 1, why did we stop pressing their midfield higher up the field after 30 minutes or so. it was obviously working as they were so shaky at the back we could have easily won the game if they were not allowed to play in our half. When pressed early on they gave the ball away often or passed back to their keeper. Surely 90 minutes of pressing them in this position wouldnt have allowed them the space to get in behind us and score. 2 why do we feel the need to pass the ball side ways when the strikers are making good runs into the box. Runs that if early balls had been played would have resulted in a shot on goal at the very least or possible penalty if they were taken down by the defenders. As above their defenders were so bad i originally thought it night be a cricket score. 3 is it just me or do we need to change players earlier in the second half if we are going to impact games. Meyler looked knackered about 15 minutes into the second half and looked like he was running on adrenalin. Plus after that atrocious tackle by Cattermole if he hadnt been subbed i think Meyler should have he looked jaded to say the least. Hernandes or Quiniesta should have been on earlier, Hernandes especially he must be lamenting his lack of action and would have hit the ground running hoping to hold his place with a good display. 4 I would have knocked Poyet of his ****ing feet the cheeky **** who the **** does he think he is, that only his opinion counts in regards to referees decisions. Every team has decisions made against them that managers and players dont like, doesnt mean you can lose your head and head for the opposition players or manager to put your point across in a very unsporting manner. FA should ban the **** from the touch line for a month or so then see if he doesnt do one cos he cant keep the mackems in the premier league, ****ing idiot. CTID
Don't think the midfield deserves that much criticism, to be honest. I thought the midfield did well last night. Meyler & Livermore linked up with Elmo & Robertson in some decent positions. Huddlestone was reasonably comfortable in that Cattermole, Bridcutt & Rodwell never really controlled him & he was able to have a lot of possession. The problem last night was we were far too wasteful. We were bloody awful in front of goal. The balls were coming in to their box, but it was fluffed by anybody who was on the end of it.
Can anyone tell me why, I think it was Cattermole. If a player kicks a player with no attempt at getting the ball, such as he did with Meyler its not classed as violent conduct and therefore a red card?
Overall I thought we did well, thought we chased and harassed them created decent chances but has the game wore on we started putting ourselves under pressure giving the ball away. We then give away a bad goal and because we had not taken our chances to get that second goal we ended up with only a disappointing point. Looking back I think there keeper played well but ours didn't really have much to do. We have made it more difficult for ourselves with this difficult run in but hopefully we will be ok
I don't think most people are criticising the midfi Isn't it just the same thing as Ramirez was sent of for ? He was lucky to stay on the pitch and I'm not surprised he was subbed shortly after
This is what I've been saying all morning. He got away with it presumably just because there was nothing to retaliate to. If he'd done that after being fouled he'd have walked.
Meyler was ****ing atrocious, no where near the ball half the time, lost possession easily, passed to them. I think he was lucky to stay on the pitch after half time. He wouldn't have if Bruce had my view! Having said that, I that I thought City were a lot better than many people are making out, just lost it last 15 mins and totally agree with person who said we would have won it had we had someone else of the left instead of Meyler. I thought Huddlestone looked for the ball and the whole team pressed and pressed most of the match and we looked a lot better like that.
I like meylers commitment and can see why Bruce does too! BUT he kept running across robbos lines when robbo had the ball! Confused him to ****!
Livermore has one of the best engine's in the league and for all his limitations Meyler cover tons of ground. There was article a few months stating Livermore had covered over 100 miles and was at the time third in the league for distance covered.
Enjoyable game in more ways than one. My only complaint was that we did not take our chances and give the Mackems what they deserved. A big arse kicking. They are a poor team and got lucky in the end. However, it was another point and the results overall went our way. Aston Villa also got massive luck thanks to the hapless Ben Foster on tuesday night and the bottom 3 all did what they were expeced to do last night. It all looks nice now and hopefully Spurs can hammer another nail into the dramas coffin on saturday and then the build up begins to the game @ Lesta. Bring it on.
