Yes, one of our best performances of the year, but awful defending. It's one thing to play a high line, another not to defend as a team, and we seem to be doing the latter.

Still, a real pleasure to watch, even if painful from the moment Gylfi got the goal. I'd hoped Chelsea would decide the occasion was worth playing an open game with us, but today, not to mention the second Chelsea game, you can see why they didn't.

I'm very glad to hear Gomis is okay. I saw him waving and nodding his head as he left the feel, so while I was concerned, I was reasonably sure he wasn't in danger.

Massive game against QPR now on the weekend. Really need another win.
Get the three points and we leapfrog Southampton, close Liverpool down to a point, Man Utd to 3 and the Goons to 4.
It would also open up an eight point gap between us and... Stoke? They're doing well to be there, I guess.

I haven't seen any of it, but from comments here, it seems defence is a problem, yet again. No great surprise to me, as I've said countless times, look at our goals conceded - far too many!...

We deserved the win. I thought spurs were head and broad shoulders above the swans all game. The young lad Rose is turning out to be alright after all. Down to earth no nonsense stuff. Looks very strong in the tackle and constantly on the move, most of the time at pace.

To be fair, we should've had 4 or 5. Soldado could've had 2 coming off the bench, Chadli had one ruled out for offside(tight but correct) and it generally looked like we'd knocked the stuffing out of Swansea until the late Sigurdsson goal. The second was poor marking and as much as the first was poor defending too it was just really bad from Lloris to concede from the angle. We struggled a bit in the air but it's worth the defensive sacrifice when we pour forward in attack like that.

I used to slate Townsend, but think he's improved a lot this year. Still, the words that went through my head after his goal were, 'You knew if you watched him his entire career he was going to do that once." Brilliant goal. Hey, why not put him on the left? He seems to shoot much better with his weaker foot.

This was a big win. A loss here and I think our season stood a real chance of unraveling. The fact that it was a stylish win helps as well.

West Ham v Chelsea is first ahead of our game on MOTD! The only excuse can surely be that they needed the extra time to edit with so many highlights in our game.

That's ridiculous. I bet their game was crap, too. They've sandwiched us between the two title chasers, though:

Hehe, I still find that when I play 5s. I'm right footed but when it comes to wrapping my foot around the ball and putting a lot of pace on it I'm far better with my left. But when it comes to volleys the left's more likely to send the ball over the high nets and across the train tracks than hit the target :D

Remember the hissy Alan Hansen threw when Liverpool got put on last? I don't know why he felt it was so insulting but Liverpool were apparently too big of a club to go on last.

You're right in that all the other games played to night have gone against us in terms of points on the board.
On to nights display spurs should have an easier win on Sunday., The big game happens to following Saturday. For my money the Utd game is now the first of the big 6 pointers, as we aim for the finish line.

I hit baseballs and softballs better left handed, though that's not a case of being left handed, it's that in a two handed stroke, strong side forward makes sense. On the other hand, my best punch is a left hook, which I guess is a case of favoring the left side, since when I box I more often than not put my weak side forward.

The ultimate proof that handedness is an arbitrary preference is that Nadal is right handed. He started out hitting tennis balls with a two handed, right handed grip. Rather than change, he started dropping the right hand and hitting lefty on all his other strokes.

Year after year, we do well in the run in, but not well enough, since our rivals do even better. This year could be different, but the smart money wouldn't bet that way. I'm not going to take our chances of getting top four seriously unless and until we beat QPR and Man U--and show we can defend a bit as well, perhaps.

Well you were deserved winners on the balance of play, shame our gaffer didn't bring on Montero sooner, we were all calling for him to come on, just don't understand these managers on times, but still a great game and we nearly sneaked a draw at the death!........<laugh>

I think with me it's maybe because I played a lot at left back and left wing when I was young as I tended to get pushed up the age groups and they were always short on the left hand side so I learned to do it when crossing. It just becomes a comfortable action, anything off the laces or off the inside of the boot which involves turning my foot and chances are it will either have no power or be totally wild.

Anyway, that's our last midweek game of the season unless maybe our Villa game clashes with an FA Cup weekend and they're still in it. What on Earth are we going to do during the week now? I'm going to have to find a new hobby <yikes>

As soon as he came on I thought that it might be an idea to put someone out there to deal with him, but then I realised that we didn't have anyone.
Lennon really would've helped, but we exiled him to Merseyside.

MOTD edits out half an hour of utter dominance and somehow makes that look like a tight game. <doh> That's pure ****.

:D Not even worth staying up for. At least they mentioned that we had 20 shots to give a bit of an idea of how the game went.

Poor old Motson, football just seems to confuse him. He spent the length of Townsend's run(from his 20 yards inside his own half up to their 'keeper) explaining how it was a foul but the referee played on. The first time he mentioned Townsend by name was when he was celebrating and then he just went back to talking about how it was a foul but the referee played on <laugh> Don't get me wrong, it was a good call from Oliver, he was just about to blow up and changed his mind but how about a mention of the goal at somepoint, eh?
