Look at the interview with Rodwell on Sky. He confirms it came off his arm, that's a handball regardless. He even expressed his surprise that the goal was awarded.

His exact words 'It rolled down my arm and luckily the ref gave it'.

As I said in the above post, that would depend on whether the ref viewed his hand to be in an unnatural position. If you jump in the air, you automatically raise your arms, it is a natural position for them to be in. That being said I reckon the ref didn't see it as most refs (given they are human and able to make mistakes) would have blown for a free kick.

If it had been us, you can guarantee it would not have been given.

True, we've been on the end of some real stinkers when it comes to hand-ball decisions over the last two years (usually resulting in penalties against).

He didn't say it 'rolled down' his arm, if you're going to quote him, at least actually quote him, he said "it hit my arm."

Amazingf how, through 3 pages of a thread, I can only see a single post which takes into account Mike Dean awarding you a free kick, from which you scored, for a perfectly good tackle! Typical really that you never see Hull get any decisions. Meyler put his head into Cattermole's face - far worse than the trip by Cattermole - yet he didn't even get spoken to? Jelavice jumped arm first into O'Shea with no booking. Bridcutt's was shocking mind - he was a very lucky boy there. - see I DO admit when our players

A ball hitting an arm is not handball - it has to be hand to ball not the other way - look at the 2 penalties you should've conceded at our place for hand to ball and compare them to rodwell's handball. He was surprised as he knew it hit his arm - but, from all professionals I have seen watching the game and commenting on it, no-one thinks he intentionally handled it (and he also did not admit to that - just that it HIT his arm - not that he handled it)

To be fair, he hasn't helped himself with his "luckily the ref gave it" comment. <laugh>

The commentator said it rolled down his arm, which it did, Rodwell admitted it hit his arm. What's the ****ing difference? It still hit his ****ing arm.

I was just pointing out that what you put wasn't what he said.

It was going in, the fact that it hit his arm on the way in really had no bearing on anything, it was hardly a Maradona moment.

If the ref had seen it, there's a chance he might not have allowed the goal to stand, but he didn't so it's academic.

Whether the ball hits the hand, or the hand hits the ball, it's hand ball. There's no such thing as ball to hand in the rules.

I did think Meyler pushed his head into Cattermole's face though.

I wasn't sure about the Brown tackle cos you know, it's Elmo after all. But saw somewhere today it was reported that he was lucky not to be sent off as well. And Cattermole's wasn't a trip it was a kick. I didn't realise Meyler had put his head in afterwards, maybe that's another reason Cattermole got away with it, he wouldn't have wanted to send two players off.

Our supporter's reactions on a thread about the inabilities of a referee & questioning a couple of contentious decisions he made, or failed to make are a lot less dramatic to similar threads on your own board.

"This isn't the first time he's had an absolute shocker against us either. Club should seriously take action. It's a ****ing joke."

"Hope to god Gus fancies the fine and and sticks the boot right into the **** in his post match interview. The **** is not fit to referee Sunday League."

"Ref was even worse, most people would be sacked if they got it that wrong at work"

"But, Andre Marriner, hang your headin f**ing shame."

"we should seriously look into a formal complaint to the FA , oh wait a minute, they would probably dock us three points"

"I genuinely believe he shouldn't be taking charge of football games, let alone premier league games."

"Mariner cheated us out of three points. He should not be allowed to referee again after that.."

"When has Marriner ever 'incompetently' reffed a game in our favour? Amazing that he only ever 'incompetently' refs our games against us."

"Can anybody actually recall a game when this ref had a 'good game' for us?"

"let's not give this **** Marriner any defence here at all, us playing bad should not get him off the hook so lets not deflect this thread towards our performance. This thread is about that **** and nowt else. Useless ****er. Sack him fa."

"I'm tempted to load up on Hull surviving upon the basis that the FA give instructions to refs after what I've seen today."

"The FA want us in the league but not to climb to high and as we started to get up the league, we were an easy expendable picking today in favour of Hull, in order to help Hull get out of the bottom three."

"When I saw the replay I lost it. So ****ing obvious. I can't accept it."

"It wasnt missed, he saw it and chose to ignore it. The 'foul' on Meyler was as blatant as biased refs can be."

"They know its the little decisions that change the flow of the game but when 2 major decisions are ignored aswell, it tells you everything you need to know."

"and yet the world and his mother knew that this ref was 100% not going to give sunderland nothing, if any doubt about the past games was in question ,this must ignite questions over his bias today."

"We were ****e but Marriner was worse as per usual. He's **** at his job, sack the ****. Why pass him on to some poor lower league teams? He shouldn't be allowed to ref a school game."

"He was the only person I thought was capable of stopping us winning today. 2 blatant penalties within 5 minutes of each other completely ignored. A free kick which even he didn't appear to think was a foul until he saw the ball was falling Sunderland way and it'd stop us. He's a disgrace and should be investigated but he won't as they're untouchable"

"I said that marriner should never ref' us again after the Southampton game and today proves it. He's a cheating bastard in my eyes. Plain and simple."

"..he's got to be getting paid back-handers from someone.Nobody could be as bad at his job as cheating ,bent Marriner is at his!!"

"fouls are part of the game ,bent refs shouldnt be"

"Marriner is a cheat,is probably on the bookies payroll, and should never referee in the Premier league again"

"And how many times did Marriner play for you? 2 I know of."

"Some on here seem to be under the illusion that Mariner made mistakes with the penalty decisions. I don't believe this for one minute. This twat has always had it in for us and he knew fine well they were penalties but chose not to give them."

"What about the linesmen, do they sucker up to the ref ?, they are at it again, the supporters call them **** and this is how they get their own back, it IS fixed. They love coming here and taking the piss, one day though it will back fire."

Also we appear far more capable of being questioned regarding benefiting from poor decisions made by the referee. Unlike on the Sunderland board.

"How about a simple, 'go **** your mum"

"you daft ****. slurp spunk off fatheeds chin, ****er."

"cheshire bendover....what a knobhead. gan an have a **** over fatheed"

"raging noshbag. ****er of cheshire. bet you won that award easily.was it just your family, or the local gay bar, that helped you to recieve this award? did you do a marc almond, and slurp it out of a glass? inbred twat."

    "**** off spunk guzzler."

"ok big lad...i'll back of now, cos you are git hard. now take that hard on, and gan and do ya mum again, ****ing inbred."

"think you have had many a man on your chin. but i hear that everyone in cheshire ben clan, has a spunk stain on their chin."

" **** off cock sucker. **** off you Pakistani cock sucker. Piss off. **** off ya **** stabbing puffta"

Quality debaters (of a kind) on that old board of yours, just a little on the tetchy side.

    ****ing refs eh?

    Just saying.

    Howay, marra.

He didn't put his head in, he wanted to go nose to nose with the dirty little shyte and had to bend down............just looked like putting his head in!!

As for Elmo, that was right in front of me and it nearly took his ankle off. No question of it not being a foul.

Without his hand intervention, from that picture it looks like it would have hit the bar.

That pics before he made any connection. It's as the cross came over, he headed it in, it hit his hand on the way in.

If Mac had the inches that Pantylinerman has it would have been safely dealt with before it reached their little turd.

In fairness, from what I saw, it seemed to hit his head and be going in, then hit arm. His arm doesn't look like it's in a natural position, however, I reckon as the ball was going in it's fair enough. I've seen worse. As has been said, we should have killed them off earlier. The first half was probably the best I've seen us in a while and if we play like that on the run in we'll be fine.

Hand-ball is hand-ball, whether or not the ball was going in anyway is irrelevant.
