I've actually argued the complete opposite comparison with Barnes earlier this week.

Barnes was an awful challenge because it could have caused a serious injury and put him out for months, maybe even a year. Irelands cut, although impressive, is never gonna be more than a few weeks. That's why high, forceful, leg bending tackles are frowned upon more than a naughty scrape like Figueroas.

No one cared about this until the picture started going round. You can't judge the severity of a foul by a picture of the gash it leaves. It was nasty but it was nothing more than that. A nasty, sly, follow through scrape. Not a legbreaker like Barnes.

Ireland did deserve it anyway for leaving one on Meyler.

There's certainly no excuse for putting an apostrophe in 'excuses'.

The injury caused was unfortunate, but it was completely accidental.

"Fair enough if it was a bad tackle but this was one player going out of his way to hurt another player, to injure another player."

That sentence is complete and utter bollocks.

It's a wildly inaccurate and poorly written article and the author is a **** of the highest order.

The thing I like about forums is that they are all about open discussions and having a fair arguement...
In my opinion Figueroa wasn't even looking at the ball and had his eyes fully planted on Stephen Ireland, if he only had eyes on Ireland then that means he only had every intention of hurting the player...

But if you would like for us all just to give each other a hard time then I shall say you are a bumder and I shagged your mum.

Fair comment really. This is the reason I put my posts on forum sites. So it can spark a nice little debate about the do's and don'ts of football.
I personally think that Barnes' tackle was simply him trying to play a pass and catching Matic with the passing leg. no malice or aggression just Matic flying in to make a perfect interception and then feeling the force of it.
Figueroa seems to have been looking right at Ireland and ran a good few yards to make and miss the challenge.

Of course this post got a lot better reception on Stokes board haha

He's just cleared the ball and follows through onto Ireland, who for some reason turns his back, if he was looking where he was going he might have got out of the way. You have no idea if there was any intent or not, but Figueroa's track record suggests otherwise, he's not a dirty player at all.

As for the article itself, it starts 'Mark Hughes has come you and said that Steve Bruce has basically made a reyt tit of himself'

If you can't be arsed to proof read your articles before posting, don't be surprised if people can't be arsed to read them.

    You're welcome.

Faulty logic to put it mildly. A player is always likely to be looking partly at the ball and partly at the player he is challenging anyway. Ball and player are pretty close together as well. He could be trying to avoid getting hurt himself, avoid doing a bad tackle, as well as getting the ball. You need to think up a rather better argument if you want to be taken seriously.

Ireland's foul on Meyler was far more dangerous, and career threatening. Ireland has an impressive cut to be photographed and paraded around the media. Meyler could have been out for the season with that challenge, but he is'nt,so no one cares.

You shouldn't give it,if your not prepared to take it.

If you watched Figueroa week in week out you would know he is only capable of thinking about one action and it takes him long enough to work that out let alone thinking about clearing the ball AND taking a chunk out of Ireland!

Without even opening the link I have formed the following views:-

    a) You have a poor understanding of the game.

    b) The standard of you're written English is ****.

    c) You're intelligence is lacking.

    d) You're quite young.

    e) Your jokes are ****.

    f) You're a massive ****.

On a plus side I can't be critical of your poorly written & highly inaccurate article that's lacking in any credible research or effort as I've not read it.

Why do you prefer Wednesday to the other days of the week? Fridays are my favourite, I think they're enhanced greatly by the "Friday Night Music" threads.

When you decide to write for public consumption you really need to consider whether or not you're up to it from a writing point of view. If, after a couple of sentences, the reader feels a headache coming on from trying to decipher your ramblings, then you'd probably be better off sticking to simply shouting your nonsense from the stands on a Saturday afternoon.

    Hope this helps.
