    How is Becchio getting on ? has he scored many.Who would have thought when we swapped him for Moro we got the best deal :grin: By the way when I call you guys Canaries its not racist is it ? just I hear you guys are a bit tender on the subject.

    I must admit I've never understood why "Budgies" is meant to be disparaging. It's just a small yellow parrot. And a canary is another small yellow bird. It just sounds like they can't tell the difference to me!

    Alas, the name is then adopted by everyone.

    Can't criticise when we call them Binners - can we?

    I can only think of two possibilities as to why Budgies could be disparaging.

    1. They are lower in the food chain
    2. They are lagging on the evolutionary scale

    Maybe

    Some people get very upset at discriptions,look at Cameron Jerome,if you wanted to discribe his ethnicity,what would you call him without upseting him,buggered If I know.


    Mind you we will try a few at Elland road in April but you watch us get it wrong and upset the tender little guy.<laugh>

    Fair. I don't criticise it, I just don't really understand it. At least Binners is understandably disparaging and comes from that TV series with the guy and the Binner scarf.

    Canaries are definitely lower in the food chain than Budgies (which can be vicious!) Dunno about evolution. Seems to me much of a muchness! Canaries is not a particularly "macho" nickname in the first place, but we like it! Quite like being a budgie too. Maybe if they called us vultures. I could see Leeds fans considering us that! <laugh>

    Must admit, Budgie doesn't bother me in the slightest, but I guess the users find it funny, a bit like Whootun I guess.

    Bitter lot aren't you?! <laugh> Hold a grudge well beyond its shelf life. I can see now why all the Leeds fans hate Man U despite it being a good 20 years since Leeds could be considered a footballing power.
