our oponents argyle seem to be edging slowly to league recognition. the still secret gib. irish consortium will hopefully sign within the next days allowing peter risdale to approach the FL with a business plan, which if approved, may allow manager peter reid to obtain some players and also allow him, his squad and club staff to be paid.
And the squad will consist of the wrecking-ball crane driver in goal, the quantity surveyor at RB, 2 foremen in CB, housing planning officer at LB, bulldozer drivers on the wings, ....
Of course that Plymouth pitch will make great gardens for the housing estate the consortium will want to build. Well we'll be in for a poor season if we don't win that game....
we may scoff but this will be a lean mean machine team relying on pfa handouts for 8 months. peter reid is an excellent manager, and shrews may have a tough game on their hands, still if our team is as good as it sounds on paper look out argyle, floreat salopia. and look out new saints, man utd and wolves
the bad news is that argyle have a first team of 8 plus some youngsters. the excellent news is that a second consortium with argyle at heart are waiting in the wings to rescue argyle after the irish gib consortium pull out. they have only paid £330k for exclusivety and the fl have sent their plans back to the drawing board. the old consortium is chaired by the chairman of truro city fc and is not allowed t/b a director of argyle. he and his consortium want all the land and the f/c is to be sold to risdale for a £1. the new consortium comprises the leader of the council and various business men. the council would buy home park at a knock down price. mrs pengelley the council leader has said it is inconceivable a city the size of plymouth should be without a football club. sounds as though argyle will have some people genuinely interested in them. ridsdale met pfa and fl yesterday to discuss how the club can claim back its golden share in league pyramid suspended when the pilgrims went into admin. he was told by fl that a lot more work has to be done before that occurrs!. my view is that the administrator should be accused of leading what was left of the club up a blind alley for 6 months, and still no pay for anyone. the admin man should be sacked and a new admin man should invite the consortium in the wings to bid asap so that argyle may be in a position top make a long journey up the m5 in 3 weeks. what an absolute shambles and how not to administrate a business
other news from the south west is that the gulls have taken on a second string goalkeeper martin rice from truro city. their main gk is bobby olejnik who replaced scot bevan.
