Maybe the Ice rink can provide enough heat to warm the pool. Yeah Gerahty,. Maybe the atmosphere at the K.C, can be electrified Via the rail link. **** of the Month for March Madness.
We cannot have it there because one week a year we have a travelling fair on the site. It is also the site of a weekly market and car boot sale, despite the traditional indoor market and market square in the city centre dying on it's feet and crying out for traders and customers, some bright spark on the council decided to grant a license to Walton Street. On the other six days of the week the site is useful for fly tipping which has proved very popular. Also the area is the home of several species of wildlife which breed in the many pools of stagnant water and pot holes. Terry knows best. ps; any mention of where the money is to come from ?
Haa was the the myth where the rink was too small because the Tiles and adhesive wern't factored in to the size needed ?
"It makes sense to combine a pool and ice rink. The ice rink could help heat the pool. "You only have to stick your hand behind the back of your fridge at home to see how much heat comes out." Is it only me thats tickled by that?? Nah its all Allams fault.
Me too Chazz. I was at work taking a sip of coffee when reading that and nearly choked with laughing. He makes comedy character Count Arthur Strong sound like Einstein.
Except he's in a position of power and influence and appears bullet proof in a job for life. I bet he laughs about that every day.
What he is saying is perfectly sound science. Obviously, someone with a brain must have told him though.
No, you weren't the only one. It will go down in folklore and taught to future generations as of being in the same moments of revelation as Archimedes crying Eureka! and running naked through the streets or the apple falling on Newton's head.
I just cant see there being enough room for a pool and an ice rink and as Stan says they need a car park. Its a no starter innit.
I think Ive missed something Olympic swimming pool....... we just got City of Culture, we aint going to get the Olympics aswell, so no need for the pool, surely the 5 weve got is suffucent for public use ? Ice Rink......weve got one and theres no stampede to get in, except when boxings on I do agree that something needs doing with the eyesore, and in this day and age it may well be leisure related, but this isn't the answer.Im no city planner or councillor but , space permitting, how about an indoor ski or kyack centre ?
You have missed something. You don't have to be staging Olympics to have an Olympic sized swimming pool. Loads of places have one. At least they do abroad, Paris has about 30. As does Munich. The UK has 15 if you include Steve Gerrard's. What's a kyack?
Thought it was but it could have been some new sport I wasn't up to date with as an oldie so thought I had better check.
If we were to build a leisure facility of the type suggested, then rather than an Olympic pool which would rarely be necessary, we'd probably be better off with something like the Donny Dome. My friends with young kids seem to go there all the time and everyone who goes raves about the place. I know very little about it, but I assume from all the positive press it gets that it's commercially successful?
Maybe its been done up but when i went a few years back the swimming pool was a dump. Missing cracked tiles etc and the sauna was crap anarl. Dunno about the gym, weights i tend to stay out of em.
Decent call, despite its cosmetic shortcomings, Doncaster Dome is a veritable cash cow and I would wager it produces more revenue for DMBC than all our 5 pools and ice arena combined.People visit from miles away including Hull
If the council buy the Edwin Davis building I presume they'll need consent from the government to knock it down.
